Kia is about to introduce its second compact SUV called the Syros. The SUV will debut on December 19, and the latest teaser trailer from the brand provides a brief look at the interior. The teaser doesn't reveal big swathes of the cabin, but we learn that it strays away from the Sonet and the Seltos. While Kia had already confirmed the presence of a panoramic sunroof, the upcoming Syros is teased to feature a floating touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel (with a Kia logo), new gear selector lever, 360-degree camera, engine start/stop button, parking sensors, terrain modes, and Type-C charging ports. Expected bits include ventilated front seats, auto air conditioning, six airbags (standard), and an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite.
Previous teasers have shown a boxy design, flat roofline, robust front end with vertically stacked headlamps, and an upright rear marked out by two-piece L-shaped taillamps, a windshield with a wraparound effect, and an integrated spoiler.

Kia Syros: Powertrain
While technical details are yet to be revealed, the Syros is expected to come with multiple powertrain options. The ICE (internal combustion engine) model will likely get a 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel mill. Kia is expected to add an electric powertrain to the lineup in mid-2025. Both versions will be available in a front-wheel-drive configuration and based on the same platform.
Expect the ICE Syros to be priced over the Sonet, which starts at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While it will have no direct rivals, the upcoming SUV will face competition from the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Curvv, and other compact SUVs.
