BMW iX1 Electric SUV Launched in India: Check Price, Specs, Features and More
The BMW iX1 went on sale in India for Rs 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in a single xDrive30 M Sport trim. The carmaker has confirmed that the electric SUV was completely sold out in India for the remainder of the year, just a few hours after the bookings for the model commenced.
The BMW iX1 electric SUV, which retails for Rs 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom), is the latest in a string of EV launches by BMW in India. Just over a year after the current-generation petrol-powered X1 made its debut and only around 8 months after it went on sale, the electrified iX1 has also arrived on Indian shores. It is available in a single fully loaded M Sport variant. For those unaware, the iX1 is built on the same framework as its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the X1. It joins the iX, the i7, and the i4 as the fourth BMW EV in India. It is important to note that the iX1 has already sold out until 2023, according to the German luxury car manufacturer. BMW iX1: Exterior
Starting with the exterior highlights, just like the Volvo XC40 and the XC40 Recharge, the BMW iX1 shares many visual similarities with the ICE X1. The bumper and side skirt blue inserts on the global-spec variant of the iX1 are missing from the India-spec model. The distinctive BMW kidney chrome grille, which is closed off in the electrified model, and the compact X1 SUV LED headlamps are still there. It receives the same 18-inch M light alloy wheels as the X1 M-Sport model. The iX1's rear boasts a chunky-looking rear bumper and horizontally stacked L-shaped LED tail lamps.
BMW iX1: Battery Pack and Charging Time
A 66.4kWh battery pack and a dual electric motor configuration drive the iX1. The electric SUV is said to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.6 seconds. Further, the total power and torque output figures stand at 308bhp and 494Nm, respectively. It enables up to 11 kW AC charge and 130 kW DC fast charging and has a WLTP-certified driving range of 440-kilometre. In addition, according to BMW, owners will receive an 11 kW AC wall charger, which will allow them to fully charge their iX1 in 6.3 hours as opposed to 29 minutes with a 130 kW DC fast charger.
BMW iX1: Interior and Other Features
The cabin of the BMW iX1 SUV is quite similar to that of the ICE model, including the dashboard layout. The car's 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital driver's display are merged into a curved display that operates on BMW's i-Drive 8.5 operating system. Additionally, this system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen interface may be used for adjusting all the climate controls. A panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats with massaging functions, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless phone charging, and dual-zone climate control are other feature highlights of the iX1.
Coming to the safety suite of the new model, the iX1 boasts amenities such as park assist, Multiple airbags, a rear parking camera, along with driver assistance system including cruise control with brake function and forward collision warning.

BMW iX1: Competition Check
The iX1 is now available for purchase at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 66.90 lakh. The SUV competes with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Volvo C40 Recharge, and others at this price point.
