If you’re a petrolhead, you should definitely take a look at the latest collection from Tag Heuer. Here are our four favourite watches that are made especially for petrolheads.

The Monaco Gulf 2018 Special Edition

The cinema buffs amongst us will never forget the sight of Steve McQueen’s character tearing around in the legendary Porsche 917K in the movie Le Mans. The watch he wore in the movie was the first Tag Monaco – a revolutionary watch for its time. It was the first Swiss watch to have a square case that was also a water-resistant chronograph. Of course, the Monaco was a path-breaker, but having been worn by the King of the Cool himself only reaffirmed its appeal. In their latest partnership with Gulf Oil – whose famous blue and orange colours grace the dial – the new Monaco is released in its original 39mm square case, with several details that hark back to the original. Needless to say, with that shape and colour scheme, it’s generated a massive amount of desire in our office.

Carrera Calibre Heuer 01 Aston Martin

Heuer 01 Aston Martin

Marking the start of a new partnership between the Swiss watchmaker and the prestigious British carmaker comes a brand-new line of watches. The designs for these watches was developed by designers from both companies, who drew direct inspiration from Aston’s sports cars. The Carrera features a skeletonised dial that ostensibly reminds you of the design of the new Vantage sports car, while its 45mm steel case features lines on the side that represent speeding down a racetrack. The dial also features Rhodium plated hour and minute hands.

Autavia 'Siffert'’ Collector's Edition

Autavia Siffert

Jo Siffert was recruited as one of the first racing drivers to be sponsored by the ‘Heuer’ brand in the 60’s. Unfortunately, he met with an untimely death on the racetrack in 1971. The Autavia Siffert edition features only the vintage Heuer logo on the dial and a blue second hand, along with a white dial that has black registers and blue accents. The 42mm steel case also features a grey tinted sapphire crystal on the back, with Siffert’s signature printed over it. A must-have watch for retro racing aficionados, but only if you can manage to find one of the 100 units that have been planned for production.

Carrera Heuer 02

Carrera Heuer 02

One of the mainstays of Tag’s watch collection since 1963, the Carrera – which, of course, is associated with motor racing – celebrates its 55th year in production with the launch of a bevy of new editions. The latest generation of the watch is discrete in its modern reinterpretation of the original concept. Featuring a skeleton dial with a sapphire case back, it features a brand new state-of-the-art movement – the Heuer 02. This movement offers a power reserve of 80 hours and oscillates at a frequency of 4Hz. Offered with a choice of a 43mm or 45mm case, the Carrera Heuer 02 offers a total of 13 contemporary versions of the legendary Carrera.
