Harley-Davidson started the innings with the launch of the much-awaited X440 at a starting price of Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets a 440cc engine making 27bhp and 38Nm of peak torque. It impressed us with it's features and handling, but wasn't the Harley we all expected. Next, Triumph and Bajaj launched the Speed 400 at a starting price of Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets a 400c engine making 40bhp and37.5Nm of peak torque. Journalists and the entire motorcycle community was instantly enticed by its performance, handling and typical Triumph quality. However, we did point out the lack of features in such a competitive segment.
