Built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0, the SUV integrates cutting-edge battery technology, ensuring enhanced efficiency and performance. With a sleek, modern design and a tech-focused interior, the Sealion 05 aims to set new standards in the electric SUV segment. The side profile is accentuated by rugged plastic cladding and a floating roof illusion, created through darkened elements on the D-pillar. At the rear, a striking full-width LED light strip, combined with a roof-mounted spoiler, adds a touch of aggressiveness.
BYD Sealion 05: Dimensions
Moving on to the dimensions, the EV spans 4,520mm in length, 1,860mm in width, and 1,630mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 2,720mm. While it is slightly more compact than its hybrid sibling, the Sealion 05 compensates with an extended wheelbase to maximise interior space.
BYD Sealion 05: Mechanical Setup
The BYD Sealion 05 EV features a rear-wheel-drive system powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP)-based blade battery. The model will be offered with two battery options: 50kWh and 60.9kWh. The 60.9kWh variant produces a maximum power output of 214bhp, and delivers a BYD-claimed driving range of 520km. Meanwhile, the 50kWh version generates 188bhp and is estimated to cover up to 430km on a full charge. Despite differences in power and battery capacity, both models have an electronically limited top speed of 180km/h. Depending on the battery configuration, the SUV’s weight falls between 1,670 kg (50kWh) and 1,780 kg (60.9kWh).
According to the Chinese automaker, the electric SUV boasts a “class-leading” turning radius, ensuring exceptional manoeuverability in urban and confined driving conditions. The rapid charging capability enables the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in just 18 minutes, minimising downtime for drivers.
BYD Sealion 05: Interior and Features

Inside, the cabin has been completely revamped with a tech-focused layout, highlighted by a 12.8-inch floating infotainment display and an 8.8-inch digital driver’s cluster. Every variant is equipped with the brand’s “God’s Eye” C driver assistance system. The vehicle also integrates BYD’s DiPilot 100, an advanced “three-eye” autonomous driving platform that leverages 12 cameras, 5 radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. This system supports a suite of intelligent features, including enhanced active safety functions, High-Speed Navigate on Autopilot, and Full-Scenario Smart Parking.
