This little Korean hatchback has had us gushing ever since it was first launched. It’s a cute little car that’s got a lot of heart and character. What’s especially good about the Grand i10 is that it’s got great quality levels, both inside and out. It’s also built very well and offers beautiful ride quality – better than even some cars in a segment or two above.
This year, the car was upgraded with a few styling tweaks – including a sportier front bumper with LED DRL’s, a new rear bumper, and new alloy wheels. Its new design is certainly a little more flashy than functional, but it does give it a new lease on life. The cabin too may not have the most up-to-date design, but the quality levels are very good, and ergonomically it’s brilliant. Plus, of course, it gets some great tech for a car in its segment – such as a 7-inch touchscreen unit that’s got Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible.
The biggest change for this year, though, was the addition of a larger diesel engine – which now displaces 1,186cc and produces 75bhp. More importantly, the torque rating is up to 190Nm from 160Nm. The power delivery and refinement levels are adequate for everyday city driving conditions, but the engine still struggles if you push it. On the road, though, it’s quite usable – and its ride quality is still what shines and makes this a very usable and comfortable city runabout.
The Grand i10 also offers you great value-for-money, so it’s a machine that you can put your money down without thinking twice. It’s not the most exciting car out there, but it’s a no-nonsense hatchback that’s highly reliable and comfortable.
