autoX Awards 2024: The Curvv’s striking coupe SUV design gives it an edge over the competition, particularly in its EV version. The aero wheel design, the blocked-out grille, and the loud EV badging give it extra points in the X-Factor category. Inside, it’s pretty much similar to that of the ICE versions, except for the EV’s light-coloured theme as opposed to the dark-themed interior of the ICE versions, which significantly enhances its sense of space.
Creature comforts are aplenty, and the fit-and-finish levels of the EV version, as we observed during the tests, are markedly better than those of the ICE versions. However, it suffers in other departments, just like its petrol and diesel counterparts. For instance, ergonomics could have been better, practical storage spaces are limited, and the headroom is somewhat cramped, both at the front and rear.
The Curvv EV is based on a dedicated EV platform, called the Acti.EV. Consequently, it offers a notably different – or much improved – driving experience compared to the petrol and diesel versions. The steering is better and more precise, and, surprisingly, it feels tauter around the bends. However, when pushed to its limits at the BIC, its limitations become apparent, for it struggles to track the intended line at high speeds, understeers aggressively, and its heavyweight battery pack doesn’t help the case either.

The ride is firm but absorbent enough and well-damped for daily driving conditions. That said, the shocks do run out of travel if you hit a pothole at anything above 30 – 40km/h, emitting a loud, disturbing thud.
Given that it’s an EV, the Curvv is impressively refined. Plus, with 165bhp and 215Nm of peak torque, acceleration is peppy and seamless. In this regard, it feels miles better than the petrol or the diesel version. The 55kWh version we tested has an ARAI-certified range of 585km, so realistically, you can expect close to 400 – 430km of range in real-world conditions.
Overall, the Curvv EV is a stylish offering, and the fact that it’s an affordable Coupe SUV makes it quite a tempting proposition. That said, there’s also no denying that it suffers from limited practicality and a cramped rear seat, which do impact its final scores.
