MotoGP: Quartararo Tops Day 1 of Sepang Test for Yamaha
Fabio Quartararo set the fastest time on day one of the Sepang MotoGP test, while Jorge Martin crashed heavily on the Aprilia and was taken to hospital.

Fabio Quartararo dominated the opening day of the 2025 MotoGP Sepang test, setting the fastest time while reigning champion Jorge Martin suffered a major crash. The Yamaha rider, fresh from last week’s shakedown, tested three different M1 bikes and topped the timesheets with a 1m57.555s lap. Yamaha has a strong presence at the test, with 12 bikes across its factory team, Pramac, and test rider Augusto Fernandez, as they push to improve performance.
Marc Marquez showed impressive pace on his factory Ducati GP25, finishing second with a 1m57.606s lap after completing 54 laps. His brother, Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati), briefly led the session but ended up third. Rookie Fermin Aldeguer impressed in fourth, benefiting from his shakedown test experience.

Joan Mir (Honda) took sixth, ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio, who recently returned from shoulder surgery but is now sidelined again with a collarbone fracture. Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha) finished eighth, followed by Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) and Miguel Oliveira (Pramac).
