VR46's Luca Marini clinched his second MotoGP pole by setting a new lap record at the Qatar Grand Prix, leading a front row entirely dominated by year-old Ducati bikes.

With the upcoming Italian Grand Prix two weeks away, this is a good chance for Luca Marini to regain fitness so as to participate in his home MotoGP at Mugello. Currently, he is placed sixth in the championship standings.
