Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

The standard-wheelbase Tiguan is making a comeback, although, the longer one, which is capable of seating seven, has likely been discontinued. Volkswagen has likely pulled the plug on the seven-seater SUV.

Just after the unveiling of the Skoda Kodiaq facelift, Volkswagen Group is all set to showcase its counterpart the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace facelift. The seven-seater SUV will break cover next week

Time is money. Apparently. It’s an alien concept to us journalist type folks, but I’ll pretend to agree. That’s why we all call the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace TAS — to save all of one whole second it takes to say its entire name.

On the track, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace behaves exactly like a big German SUV. It’s stable, rock-solid, and decently quick, which reflected in its lap time. However, it’s not the most exciting vehicle to pilot.

Now, VW India, in its BS6 avatar, has decided to make the Tiguan larger and give it a new petrol engine. The trouble is that, like many of the other seven-seat crossovers out there, the Tiguan has virtually no legroom whatsoever in the third row – so,

The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is a 7-seater version of the standard Tiguan. Since it is BS6 compliant, it goes on sale exclusively with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol motor (unlike the Tiguan that was sold with the 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit).

The Tiguan Allspace is essentially a longer version of the standard Tiguan that accommodates a third row of seats. Though visual changes are minimal, the Tiguan Allspace features longer rear doors (to facilitate easy ingress into the third row) & a longer bonnet to balance out its proportions
