India Bike Week 2023: More than a month after Triumph Motorcycles unveiled the&nbsp;new Stealth Editions for&nbsp;its&nbsp;Bonneville line-up, the Indian arm of the UK manufacturer has officially revealed prices&nbsp;for the 2024&nbsp;Bonneville Stealth Editions at the country's largest biking festival in Goa (scheduled to be held over December 8-9). Priced from Rs 9.09 lakh&nbsp;to Rs 12.85 lakh (ex-showroom, India),&nbsp;eight Modern Classics getting the bespoke 'Stealth Edition' treatment&nbsp;are the&nbsp;Bonneville Speedmaster Red Stealth Edition, Bonneville Bobber Purple Stealth Edition,&nbsp;Bonneville T120 Blue Stealth Edition,&nbsp;Bonneville T100 Blue Stealth Edition,&nbsp;Speed Twin 1200 Red Stealth Edition, Speed Twin 900 Green Stealth Edition,&nbsp;Scrambler 900 Orange Stealth Edition, and the&nbsp;T120 Black Stealth Edition with a matte silver finish. <h2>2024 Triumph Bonneville Stealth Editions: Styling and Other Details</h2>

The 2024 edition of factory custom models from&nbsp;Hinckley's Modern Classics line-up celebrates&nbsp;the craftsmanship of hand-painted&nbsp;details and distinctive colour schemes ranging from dark-tinted graphite to blue, green, red, and other shades.&nbsp;The metallic 'Silver Ice' base colour together with the 'Sapphire Black' graphite vignette and unique fuel tank design make them&nbsp;a head-turner for sure. Moreover, a translucent-tinted lacquer finish is also applied to give these bikes a nice top coating, resulting in an effect that shows various hues and tones under&nbsp;different lighting conditions.&nbsp;

Otherwise, the&nbsp;Triumph Bonneville Stealth Editions remain unchanged over the standard models; they use&nbsp;the same engine, gearbox, and cycle parts as before.&nbsp;Triumph says that the Stealth Editions will be available only for a year, and will be sold in the country in limited&nbsp;quantities, hence commanding a&nbsp;premium over the standard models. For those interested,&nbsp;the bookings are open, with deliveries to commence in March 2024.

<h2>2024 Triumph Tiger 900 Unveiled at IBW 2023</h2>

In addition, Triumph Motorcycles&nbsp;unveiled&nbsp;the 2024 iteration of the Tiger 900&nbsp;for the Indian market. Offered in two variants – GT and Rally Pro, the adventurer tourer gets a revised styling, improved performance, and updated feature list. While the price of this&nbsp;motorcycle is yet to be announced, the bookings for the same are underway, with deliveries to commence in March 2024.&nbsp;

<h2>Triumph Thruxton Final Edition - The Last Hurrah for Cafe Racer</h2>

The launch of the&nbsp;Triumph Bonneville Stealth Editions comes after the introduction of the&nbsp;Triumph Thruxton Final Edition, which&nbsp;serves as the last hurrah for the cafe racer that is intended to go out of production in 2024. Priced at £15,095&nbsp;(which translates to Rs 15.32 lakh), it&nbsp;will arrive at dealerships in Spring 2024.&nbsp;Triumph says that the Final Edition is a blend of style and elegance of the Thruxton&nbsp;RS, paying homage to the cafe racer's racing heritage.

At its heart is the powerful 1,200cc&nbsp;twin-cylinder Bonneville engine, which is tuned to&nbsp;crank&nbsp;out&nbsp;103 bhp at 7,500rpm and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,250rpm. Power is transmitted via a 6-speed gearbox.&nbsp;

Eight new limited-edition bikes by Triumph Motorcycle India have been introduced in the&nbsp;market and&nbsp;they will only be available for a&nbsp;year. A chrome fuel tank with a Jet Black accent is incorporated into the Triumph Rocket 3 R Chrome Edition. Additionally, it sports several Jet Black-themed components like the side panels, fly screen, front mudguard,&nbsp;headlamp bowls,&nbsp;rear bodywork, and&nbsp;radiator cowls.&nbsp;The Rocket 3 R Chrome Edition is available in India for&nbsp;₹20.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Triumph Rocket 3 GT Chrome Edition receives a fuel tank that is also chrome-studded and has distinguishing Diablo Red embellishments. The limited-edition model also has Jet Black side panels, rear bodywork, radiator cowls, front mudguard, and fly screen. In the Indian market, it is priced at&nbsp;₹21.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Triumph Bonneville T120 Chrome Edition has the familiar chrome tank but with Meriden Blue painted details that are influenced by vintage designs. The side panels, mudguards, and&nbsp;headlamp bowl all have&nbsp;Classic Jet Black finishes.&nbsp;The bike is available&nbsp;for&nbsp;₹11.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Triumph Bonneville Bobber Chrome Edition also has a chrome fuel tank. Moreover, the fuel tank&nbsp;features a Jet Black painted overlay with Triumph triangle badging. The Jet Black colour scheme is also prominent on the side panels as well as the mudguards. In India, it costs&nbsp;₹12.85 lakh (ex-showroom).

Just like the&nbsp;Bonneville Bobber Chrome Edition, the&nbsp;Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Chrome Edition also comes with a price tag of&nbsp;₹12.85 lakh (ex-showroom).&nbsp;The motorcycle has a chrome tank with bold Diablo Red Surrounds, while the mudguards, side panels, and headlight bowl are Jet Black.

The Triumph Bonneville T100 Chrome Edition in the Bonneville lineup has been priced at ₹10.04 lakh (ex-showroom). The fuel tank is Cobalt Blue with a Chrome Edition metal stripe. The Jet Black mudguards and side panels contrast with the classic chrome badges and fuel filler cap.

Triumph Scrambler 900 Chrome Edition is available in Brooklands Green with Classic Jet Black tank stripes. Additionally, it gets Triumph triangle tank badging with chrome accents and metal knee pad infills from the Chrome Edition. The mudguards, side panels, and frame cowl are identical to those on every Chrome Edition&nbsp;and boast&nbsp;a price of&nbsp;₹9.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

Last but not the least, the Triumph Speed Twin 900 Chrome Edition comes with Red Hopper paint, Chrome Edition metal knee pad infills, a Jet Black tank stripe, Triumph triangle tank badging, and metal details.&nbsp;The bike comprises side panels and mudguards with new red and silver logo graphics that contrast with the Jet Black theme.&nbsp;It is available for&nbsp;₹8.84 lakh (ex-showroom).

Triumph introduces eight new limited-run Chrome Collection motorcycles in India

Triumph Motorcycles India has introduced Chrome limited-edition models of its Scrambler, Rocket, Bonneville, and Speed Twin 900 models in India. The Collection prices range from Rs 8.84 lakh for the Speed Twin 900 to Rs 21.40 lakh for the Rocket 3 GT.

Eight models from Hinckley's Modern Classics line-up get the bespoke Gold Line treatment. Instead of being limited by numbers, the Triumph Gold Edition models will be on sale for a period of one year, with no cap on production figures.&nbsp;

In order to showcase the expert hand-painting skills of its paint shop and cater to ever-growing customer demand for more custom-inspired paint schemes, Triumph Motorcycles has revealed eight bespoke Gold Line Editions from its Modern Classics range of motorcycles, which celebrate the craftsmanship of hand-painted&nbsp;details and unique colour schemes.&nbsp;The Gold Line Editions&nbsp;are available for the entire <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/2021-bonneville-line-up-revealed-109036/">2021 Bonneville range</a> (the T100, T120, T120 Black, Bobber, and Speedmaster) and the Scrambler models (the Street Scrambler, Scrambler 1200 XE, and Scrambler 1200 XC). It's worth mentioning that the Gold Line Editions feature no mechanical updates over their standard counterparts.

Here's a look at what each Gold Line Edition has to offer.

Bonneville T100 Gold Line

The Bonneville T100 Gold Line Edition features a Silver Ice and Competition Green colour scheme. While the fuel tank, side panels, and the front &amp; rear mudguards are finished in Silver Ice, the Competition Green highlights the fuel tank infill and the&nbsp;side panel stripe graphics. The hand-painted gold lines can be seen on the fuel tank as well as the side panels.

Bonneville T120 &amp; T120 Black&nbsp;Gold Line

While the Bonneville T120 Gold Line Edition sports the same colour scheme as the T100, the T120 Black Gold Line Edition features a&nbsp;Matte Sapphire Black base colour and uses Matte Silver Ice for the tank infill and the&nbsp;side panel stripe graphics, both of which also get hand-painted gold lining. Thanks to the already blacked-out engine, exhaust, wheels, and numerous other blacked-out details, the Sapphire Black and Silver Ice colour scheme complements the bike's stealth look.&nbsp;

Bonneville Bobber Gold Line

The Bonneville Bobber Gold Line Edition features Carnival Red as the primary colour on the&nbsp;fuel tank and mudguards. The former further gets a twin stripe design, with brushed foil knee pad graphics. These elements, along with the Sapphire Black side panels, feature the hand-painted gold lining as well as the new gold badges and lettering.

Bonneville Speedmaster Gold Line&nbsp;

The Bonneville Speedmaster Gold Line Edition features a&nbsp;Sapphire Black twin stripe design on a&nbsp;Silver Ice fuel tank, which also gets brushed foil knee pad graphics.&nbsp;The Sapphire Black embellishes the&nbsp;side panels, headlamp bowl, and mudguards, while the gold striping and the bespoke 'gold line' logo can be found in abundance on most of these elements.&nbsp;

Street Scrambler Gold Line

Unlike the Bonneville family, the Street Scrambler Gold Line Edition brings along a vibrant&nbsp;Matte Pacific Blue and Matte Jet Black paint scheme. While a Graphite fuel tank stripe and brushed foil knee pad graphics provide a contrast&nbsp;to the blue, with an accompanying hand-painted gold lining, the&nbsp;mudguards and side panels have been finished in Matte&nbsp;Jet Black. The gold 'Triumph' lettering on the tank further adds to the contrast look.

As the Gold Line Editions are not bound by a production cap, expect these to reach our shores sometime early next year. However, only a select few versions are likely to make it here.&nbsp;

Triumph Gold Line Edition models revealed

In order to showcase the expert hand-painting skills of its paint shop and cater to ever-growing customer demand for more custom-inspired paint schemes, Triumph Motorcycles has revealed eight bespoke Gold Line Editions from its Modern Classics range of motorcycles.

Changes to the 2021 Triumph Bonneville Bobber include an LED DRL, black engine casing and a larger fuel tank. It also comes fitted with a chunkier 16-inch front wheel with twin disc brakes 

Almost a year after the BS6 emission norms came into force, Triumph has finally brought in the updated Bonneville Bobber. The UK-based bikemaker had already updated the rest of the Bonneville range over the past few months and now brought in the BS6 Bobber as well. The 2021 Bonneville Bobber is now priced starting at Rs 11.75 lakh, which the same price as the Bonneville Speedmaster. In comparison to the outgoing model, however, the 2021 Bobber demands a hefty Rs 1.47 lakh more.

Just like before, the biggest draw for the 2021 Triumph Bonneville Bobber has to be its design. The low stance, wide handlebar and twin-barrel exhaust make it look unlike any other motorcycle in its range. The 2021 Bobber does sport some mild cosmetic updates like a new LED DRL, black powder coating for the engine casings and some minor tweaks to the instrument cluster. The motorcycle also comes fitted with a chunkier 16-inch wheel at the front which has been fitted with dual discs. There’s also a larger fuel tank, which should give it a longer riding range. Triumph has also fitted the Bonneville Bobber with fatter 47mm Show-sourced front forks.

Powering the 2021 Bobber is the same 1,200cc parallel-twin motor that has been updated to meet the new BS6 emission norms. In this refreshed avatar, it produces 76.9bhp and 106Nm. The motorcycle has the option of two riding modes – Road and Rain. Other features include adjustable traction control, torque-assist clutch, ABS and cruise control.

The Bonneville Bobber is now on sale in three colour options – Jet Black at Rs 11.75 lakh, Cardovan Red at Rs 11.88 lakh and Matte Strom Grey with Matte Ironstone at Rs 12.05 lakh. All prices ex-showroom.

2021 Triumph Bonneville Bobber BS6 launched in India

The Street Twin continues to be the entry-point into the Bonneville family and is now priced at Rs 7.95 lakh. Triumph has also launched the updated 2021 iterations of the T100, T120 and the &nbsp;Speedmaster 

Triumph really seems to have put India among the top countries in its priority list. The UK-based bikemaker has been introducing its products in India soon after its global unveiling. The Tiger 850 Sport was launched in India within three months of its global unveiling. And now, the Hinckley-based motorcycle manufacturer has launched the 2021 Bonneville range in India just over a month after its global premiere.

Just like before, the 2021 Street Twin continues to be the entry-point into the Bonneville range. Now carrying a price tag of Rs 7.95 lakh, the Street Twin is roughly Rs 50,000 dearer than before. Changes to the 2021 Street Twin include newly shaped side panels, redone decals and a brushed aluminium brackets for the headlamp. The 2021 Street Twin also sits on new cast wheels – rim sizes, however, remain the same at 18-inch and 17-inch at the front and rear respectively. Triumph has also revised the pillion seat to offer enhanced comfort.

The Triumph T100 gets a few more substantial mechanical changes. It now makes the 64bhp and 80Nm – same as the Street Twin – from the 900cc parallel-twin motor. For the MY21 T100, Triumph has also upgraded the braking system with Brembo discs and new cartridge forks at the front. Triumph has done well to make use of lighter materials and reduce the weight of the engine by nearly 3kg. Triumph has priced the T100 at Rs 9.29 lakh.

Along with the T100, Triumph has also updated the T120 and is now priced at Rs 10.65 lakh. The T120 too continues to be powered by the same 1,200cc engine and still makes an identical 79bhp. Torque rating, however, has gone up 105Nm. Additionally, the Road and Rain modes have been updated to alter the throttle map and the traction control settings. A single button cruise control has also been added to the T120’s features list. The weight of the motorcycle has been reduced by 7kg using light-weight materials for select engine components and the spoke wheels. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Sitting at the top in the Bonneville range for now, is the 2021 Speedmaster, which is priced at Rs 11.75 lakh. The Speedmaster gets some subtle styling tweaks including a revised instrumentation. Other changes include higher-spec front forks, new paint schemes and more. Powering the Speedmaster is the same 1,200cc parallel twin motor that develops 77bhp and 106Nm. Triumph claims to have tweaked the engine to make it feel a bit more responsive.

The story of the Bonneville began in 1959 with the original T120. This bike revolutionized the way motorcycles were made and went on to become a British icon. The popularity of the Bonneville soared and many models were launched throughout the years. When the bikes were reintroduced again in 2001, they reintroduced the world to a modern version of the British classic motorcycle. Since then, over 3,67,000 Bonnies have been sold making it the&nbsp;most&nbsp;popular motorcycle line-up from Triumph.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 2015 the line-up was revised with many improvements and introduction of new models. Now, the British manufacturer from Hinckley has once again updated the Bonneville lineup with the new EU5/BS6 emission norms. The T120 is the flagship model in the Bonneville lineup. Updates have been made to the 1,200cc twin to make it more responsive. These includes reduction in mass and inertia that will also allow for better efficiency. Despite the new Euro5 engine, power has still been updated. The T120 now produces 78bhp @ 6,550rpm and 150Nm@3,500rpm of torque. The 2021 Bonneville T120 also gets a few design updates including lightweight aluminum rims and a new instrument 3D dial. Higher spec Brembo brakes have also been added as well as enhanced riding modes and traction control settings. There will also be a total of 116 accessories available.&nbsp;

T100&nbsp;

The lower spec Bonneville gets the same 1,200cc twin as before but power figures have been pumped up by 7bhp to 64bhp@7,400rpm and 80Nm@3,750rpm of torque. The engine also gets new updates to make it more responsive and rev higher. The new T100 is also lighter by 4kgs and will feature new cartridge forks and new Brembo brakes. It will also get a new instrument cluster and a total of 117 accessories are on offer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Street Twin&nbsp;

The Street Twin is the best-selling model in the Bonneville family. Over 30,000 have been sold since 2016. The 900cc twin will now be Euro5 compliant but without any loss of power. An output of 64bhp@7,500rpm and 80Nm@3,800rpm is available. The Street Twin will also get new cast wheels, side body panels, an improved bench seat and brushed aluminum headlight bracket, and 120 accessories will be available.&nbsp;A&nbsp;limited-edition&nbsp;Street Twin called the Gold Line will also be available with only 1,000 units on sale.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Speedmaster&nbsp;

The&nbsp;Speedmaster&nbsp;will also now get the new Euro5 1,200cc twin engine. Power is rated at 77bhp and 106Nm. Triumph has also said that the&nbsp;Speedmaster&nbsp;will have better handling and improved font suspension. A new rider and pillion seat has also been introduced as well as new instrumentation. A total of 79 accessories will be available for the&nbsp;Speedmaster.&nbsp;

Bobber&nbsp;

The modern-retro&nbsp;Bobber also&nbsp;features the new and improved 1,200cc twin that produces 77bhp and 106Nm of torque. It also sports a larger 12-litre fuel tank, high spec Brembo brakes, new Showa forks, 16-inch fat front wheel, new LED light with DRLs, adjustable&nbsp;foot pegs, and new blacked-out styling. Added rider aids include new riding modes, torque assist clutch, ABS with&nbsp;switchable&nbsp;traction, and single button cruise control. A total of 77 accessories will be on offer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

All the new motorcycles will come with&nbsp;16,000km service intervals and 2-year unlimited mileage warranty. Prices for the new Bonneville motorcycles have not been announced for India yet, but we do expect these motorcycles to be offered from March onwards.&nbsp;You&nbsp;also might be wondering why the&nbsp;Thruxton&nbsp;and the Speed Twin are not a part of the new line-up, and that’s because the&nbsp;Thruxton&nbsp;was already updated last year and the Speed Twin was only recently launched. Triumph has also mentioned that the 2021 Scrambler 1200 XC and XE, as well as the 2021 Street Scrambler will be revealed in April this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;

2021 Triumph Bonneville line-up revealed

The British manufacturer from Hinckley has revealed the 2021 Triumph Bonneville lineup with the new EU5/BS6 emission norms. Improvements include better performance, better comfort, more refinement, and higher specifications.

In a bid to lure customers, Triumph is offering a range of cosmetic, functional and electrical accessories for its modern-classic range – right from the Street Twin to the Speedmaster &nbsp;

While the automotive industry is gradually recovering post the COVID-19 lockdown, manufacturers are trying to lure customers in by offering host of benefits. A lot of manufacturers have already introduced a host of finance schemes to boost sales. Through its social media channels, Triumph Motorcycles India has announced benefits of up to Rs 60,000 on its Bonneville range. The UK-based bike maker is offering accessories worth the amount on purchase of any of its classic motorcycle range. Triumph currently has four motorcycles in its modern-classic range – the Street Twin, Bonneville T100, Bonneville T120 and the Speedmaster.

Triumph offers more than 100 optional accessories for its Bonneville range across various categories. In the cosmetic department it ranges from valve caps to clutch covers, windscreen, mirrors and more. Customers can also make electrical like a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, LED turn indicators and more on select models. Triumph also offers some accessories for enhanced comfort like heated grips, seat upgrades and more. Touring enthusiasts also have the option of choosing from a variety of luggage solutions. Triumph hasn’t officially revealed which of these accessories can be added to the motorcycle as per the offer.

The BS6 Triumph Bonneville range continues to start with the Street Twin which is priced at Rs 7.45 lakh. The Bonneville T100 and the T120 are priced at Rs 8.87 lakh and Rs 9.98 lakh respectively. Sitting at the top of the modern-classic range, the Speedmaster demands Rs 11.34 lakh. &nbsp;As of now, Triumph only has the Bonneville range, the Tiger 900 and the Street Triple RS on sale in India.

Although car and bike-makers gradually resuming operations and dealerships are opening again, the overall vehicle buying sentiment is at an all-time low. Automobile manufacturers started different schemes and offers to stimulate demand. Through their official social media handles, Triumph Motorcycles India has revealed that the company will cover new customers of its Bonneville range for the first three EMIs. The offer is available on the Street Twin, the Bonneville T100, Bonneville T120 and the Speedmaster, and is valid only for the month of May. The Triumph Street Twin is priced at Rs 7.45 lakh, the T100 at Rs 8.87 lakh, T120 at Rs 9.98 lakh and the Speedmaster at Rs 11.34 lakh. All prices ex-showroom. While Triumph is the first premium bike-maker in India to announce such schemes, other manufacturers are likely to announce similar offers in the near future as well. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Aside from the Bonneville range, <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/2020-triumph-street-triple-rs-launched-at-rs-1113-lakh-107681/">Triumph only has the recently launched 2020 Street Triple RS on sale in India.</a> The company has already sold all the Rocket 3 motorcycles that were imported soon after its official lunch in December 2019 at the India Bike Week. The Hinckley-based motorcycle manufacturer is will bring in more units in the coming months, but expect them to be priced higher. Triumph popular ADV, the Tiger 800 too has been sold out for a while now, but the new-generation model, the Tiger 900 is expected to be launched in a few weeks’ time.

Speaking of upcoming launches, Ducati is expected to bring in the Panigale V2 as a replacement to the Panigale 959. Meanwhile, Kawasaki is sure to launch the 2020 Z650 later this month as well.

Believe it or not, in the land of ‘Baywatch,’ a Triumph Bonneville managed to attract more attention than the bikini-clad women jogging along the Pacific coastline. Here’s why…

Triumph Motorcycles has decided to expand its successful Bonneville range with the addition of the 2018 Speedmaster. So we travelled 31 hours, including flight and transit times, to California to find out what the all-new Bonneville Speedmaster is all about.&nbsp;

Based on the gorgeous Bobber, Triumph’s fastest selling bike in history, the Speedmaster is powered by the same 76bhp 1,200cc High Torque parallel-twin heart. This refined engine offers 10% more torque at 4,000rpm than the standard Bonneville and 42% more torque than the previous-generation Speedmaster. The beauty of this torquey parallel-twin engine is that it allows you to be an apex predator in the corners, while also providing plenty of punch at slow speeds. And, thanks to the tall gearing, you don’t need to keep shifting gears either.&nbsp;

As mentioned earlier, the Bobber is one of Triumph’s best sellers, but its single seat and lack of luggage space limits its potential. And it was this limiting aspect that lead to the launch of the Speedmaster. Dubbed a practical version of the Bobber, the Speedmaster has the same class leading chassis and engine performance as the Bobber – but without its limitations. And for this reason, the Speedmaster will definitely appeal to a lot more riders. After all, many still prefer two-seater motorcycles – especially in the Indian market, where most riders would admire the Bobber, but eventually would shy away from signing on the dotted line.&nbsp;

From retro to modern

We rode this retro cruiser along the California coastline, with the waves kissing the beaches on one side and a row of cafes on the other. Apart from hitting the wide Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California, we also rode the Speedmaster on narrow winding roads neatly tucked away in the hills. I got my hands on the beautiful dual-coloured Fusion White and Phantom Black, sporting a timeless British heritage design with minimal bodywork. Mesmerised, I took a couple of minutes to admire the simple, yet classy, full HD round headlight with DRLs – as Triumph brings back the Nacelle design from the 50’s and 60’s. Making the motorcycle more practical, the Speedmaster boasts of a 12-litre dual coloured sculpted Bonneville tank – bigger than the Bobber’s 9-litre one. It retains a simple LCD instrument cluster – an odometer, rev counter, gear indicator, range-to-empty gauge, a fuel level indicator, clock, two trip meters and a service indicator. Sticking to the retro theme, the Speedmaster comes with stylish 16-inch, 32 spoke wire wheels and twin chrome exhausts.

If you picture the original Bobber, it would be quite hard to imagine Triumph accommodating two seats on that platform. But thanks to some clever design, Triumph uses a sub-frame for the two seats. It has a mono-shock suspension with a travel of 73mm, which is also pre-load adjustable. Kudos to Triumph for designing the Speedmaster while retaining the classic hard-tail look.&nbsp;

The Speedmaster is all about laid-back riding, and that’s the first thing I noticed when I sat on the rider’s seat – which boasts of a low seat height of 705mm. This is a boon for us Indian riders, as we aren’t the tallest people in the world. Also, the ride stance is more like a cruiser – with swept back ‘beach bars’ and forward-mounted foot pegs.

Responsive and refined

It was time to find out how this new Bonneville behaved on the road. I press started the ignition and 1,200cc engine came to life with a muffled hum. As was expected from this High Torque engine, it responded instantly with a slight twist of the throttle. As we eased our way out of San Diego city, adhering to the speed limit, the Speedmaster showed a lot of spunk at a low power range of 1,800 to 2,000rpm, making it very easy to ride in slow traffic conditions. This is all thanks to the flawless ride-by-wire throttle. As smooth as the engine is, it’s mated to a precise and an effortless 6-speed transmission. Another reason why it’s so easy to ride the Speedmaster is its torque-assist clutch that allows you to use the lever with just a single finger – making the overall experience of riding this cruiser an overall relaxed affair.

Once we hit the highway, I opened the throttle and the Speedmaster showcased its versatile nature as it picked up speed in a smooth and linear fashion – crossing the three-digit mark in a jiffy. Also, I could hardly feel the chassis vibrating. The Speedmaster also comes with cruise control as standard equipment, and the highway was the ideal place for us to play around with this feature. It gets activated on or above third gear – once you’re cruising over 70km/h. The beauty of this feature is that it’s very simple to use. Press it once and the system comes alive. Press it &nbsp;again and the cruise control is switched on. You can adjust the speed, and when you wish to deactivate it, simply press the brakes or clutch or twist the throttle. Like the Bobber, it also has two riding modes – Road and Rain – and is equipped with ABS and traction control.

Rock steady

Coming back to the ride, it was very stable at high speeds, as expected. But it was when we entered the twisty roads of Mount Palomar that the Speedmaster showed its true character. We were able to flick it in corners, and it felt light, yet stable – giving the rider a lot of confidence. I must add, though, that the front foot pegs kept scraping – but then it is a cruiser. The result of this, however, is a slight disconnect between the eager engine, the chassis and the party-pooper foot pegs.

The Speedmaster, like the Bobber Black, comes with twin 310mm disc brakes up front, which respond well and provide sufficient bite when needed.

Coming to ride quality, I can’t really comment because we were riding the Speedmaster on flawless roads. Triumph has changed the setup of the front 41mm KYB forks – it now come with a dual-rate spring to offer a more cushioned ride. Adjustments to the rear KYB monoshock have also been made to ensure the pillion’s ride quality is not hampered. Keeping practicality in mind, Triumph has added a sub-frame to accommodate a pillion or luggage.&nbsp;

Triumph also provides optional customised kits for the Speedmaster to make it truly your own. The iconic British motorcycle manufacturer calls them ‘inspirational kits.’ The Highway kit is all about touring, as it comes with a pannier set, extra comfortable seat with a rear backrest and a windshield. The Maverick fit, on the other hand, is a more blacked-out street kit with a single seat setup and flat raked out bars.

Another winner on its hands?

So, is the new Speedmaster a practical version of the Bobber? I would say it’s a mature and a versatile retro cruiser because of its easy-going riding position and extremely comfortable seat. When it comes to practicality and safety, it has a larger 12-litre tank and twin front disc brakes, apart from ABS and traction control. The 1,200cc High Torque is a gem of an engine, as it provides quite a punch at low rpm and goes all-free revving on the highway. The Bobber chassis offers fluid steering feel and seems to be at ease when negotiating tight turns. With its simple retro design, class-leading refinement and build quality, the Speedmaster is a charmer that will make people go weak in the knees. And the good news is that it’s going to make its debut in India soon. But, will it give its competition some sleepless nights? Going by the success of the Bonneville range, the Speedmaster certainly ought to make its rivals nervous. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Review: First Ride

The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster has been updated for 2018, dubbed as the practical version of the Bobber, the Speedmaster has a lot riding for it. We rode this retro cruiser along the California coastline, to find out what if it's any better.

The new T120 is bigger and better. The entire new Bonneville line-up has really impressed us, and the flagship model certainly retains its no-nonsense character. Besides its excellent and refined ride quality, it’s a comfortable and beautifully styled practical retro bike for the modern world. The new Bonneville is all grown up, and is aimed at riders who’ll appreciate its level of maturity.

The new chassis is more than capable of allowing you to carve through twisty roads, but obviously it has far more limitations imposed on it when you compare it to the sportier Thruxton – especially when it comes to handling. Because of the large 18-inch front wheel, the T120 can seem to have a slightly lazy front end feel to it. The suspension seems to be on the softer side, but that’s a good thing because it perfectly suits the bike’s relaxed and composed riding style. It isn’t the best for long distance touring, but it is definitely comfortable and convenient enough for everyday riding.

The best thing about all the new bikes in the updated Boneville line-up, though, is the <img alt="Triumph Bonneville T120 Score Sheet" class="size-full wp-image-80171 alignright" src="/uploads/2016/11/Triumph-Bonneville-T120-Score-Sheet.jpg" style="width: 343px; height: 269px;" />engine performance. In the T120, you get a superbly engineered new parallel twin 1,200cc engine, which has been tuned for maximum ease of use – while, at the same time, providing you with plenty of power on tap. You don’t need to twist the throttle much before the torque kicks in and sends you shooting down the road. If you’re anywhere above 2000rpm, the T120 will pull forward without a fuss. The throttle response is silky smooth and responsive, and, unlike the Harleys in the same category, there are virtually no vibrations at all throughout the bike. In addition, the ride quality is fantastic.

On top of all this fine engineering from the boys at Hinckley, the new T120 also gets some great technology – such as two-level heated grips, as well as ABS and traction control as standard. However, the T120 is a little too calm and composed for its own good. It certainly isn’t thrilling or sporty, although it is very attractive. It’s a bike for the more mature and relaxed rider, but we certainly love its no-nonsense approach.
