Maruti Suzuki remained the top-selling car brand in India in February 2025. However, Mahindra made a significant move, surpassing Hyundai to claim the position of the second-best-selling carmaker in the country. Maruti Suzuki sold an impressive 1.61 lakh units, while the Mahindra achieved sales of 50,420 units. Both companies showed positive growth on a year-over-year (YoY) basis, reflecting strong market demand and their ability to maintain a competitive edge in the industry. Maruti Suzuki
As mentioned, the Brezza manufacturer recorded sales of 1.61 lakh units last month, reflecting a modest 0.32% year-over-year growth compared to 1.60 lakh units sold in the same month the previous year. Impressively, the company’s total sales outpaced competitors such as Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai.

Mahindra
Mahindra posted a notable year-on-year growth of 18.91% in February 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, the Scorpio maker experienced a slight dip of 0.5%. Recently, the carmaker unveiled a new Carbon edition of the Scorpio-N SUV in India, with prices ranging from Rs 19.19 lakh to Rs 24.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This special edition is offered in the 7-seater Z8 and Z8L variants, available with both petrol and diesel engine options, as well as manual and automatic transmission choices.
Hyundai
Hyundai sold 47,727 units in February 2025, showing a 4.93% decrease from 50,201 units sold in the same month last year. The company also saw a month-on-month drop of 11.6%, with 54,003 units sold in January 2025. Recently, Hyundai added two new variants in the Creta SUV range in India: the SX Premium and EX (O). It also made several enhancements to the existing models. The new SX Premium variant comes with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, front-row ventilated seats, and a premium Bose 8-speaker sound system. Meanwhile, the EX (O) variant offers a panoramic sunroof and LED reading lamps.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors secured the fourth position among the best-selling car brands in February 2025, with 46,437 units sold. This indicated a 9.43% decline compared to 51,270 units sold in February 2024. The company also experienced a month-on-month decrease of 3.4%. Recently, Tata Motors launched the Stealth editions of the Harrier and the Safari in India, priced at Rs 25.09 lakh and Rs 25.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota
Toyota posted a year-on-year growth of 13.36% in February 2025, with 26,414 units sold, compared to 23,300 units in February 2024. With 26,178 units sold in the month of January, the automaker witnessed a marginal rise of 0.9%.
