Tata Sierra Design Patent Filed in India; Reveals Styling Updates
The production-ready Tata Sierra, in its patented design, stays true to the original concept while incorporating several updates.

The Tata Sierra ICE was a major highlight at the Auto Expo 2025 with its near-production-ready look. The SUV retains the nostalgic essence of the classic 90s model while integrating modern design features. Although the exact launch date of the Sierra has yet to be confirmed, Tata Motors has filed a design patent for the vehicle, showcasing some refined changes compared to the concept. Here’s an in-depth look at the design updates and key specifications of the Tata SUV.

Tata Sierra Design Patent: What’s Changed?
The production-ready Tata Sierra, with its patented design, remains faithful to the original concept while introducing several key updates. The most notable change is the front bumper, now featuring horizontal slats in the air dam, departing from the concept’s original design. The silver skid plate stays the same, but the profile now includes a petal-patterned alloy wheel design.
Other enhancements include more prominent body cladding and C-pillars, along with the addition of 360-degree cameras within the ORVMs. While flush door handles are retained, roof rails have been removed.
Though the rear remains unseen in the patent image, market reports suggest the final model will closely mirror the concept, featuring sleek, full-width LED taillamps and a silver skid plate on the bumper.
Tata Sierra Design Patent: Interior and Features
Although the interior is not visible in the patent images, the model unveiled at the Auto Expo gives us a glimpse of what to expect. The cabin is likely to feature three 12.3-inch screens, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and ambient lighting. It is also expected to include a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, dual-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats with ventilation, and a JBL sound system.
Tata Sierra: Powertrain
Currently, there is no official confirmation on the powertrain specifications for the internal combustion version of the Sierra. However, industry rumours indicate that the upcoming Tata SUV may feature a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 168bhp and 280Nm.
