The Skoda Octavia RS 245 has come to India more than three years after its global launch and at a time when we are just a few months away from getting the new-gen iteration of the standard car. Is the current-gen Skoda Octavia RS 245 a case of 'better late than never’ or ‘too little too late’?

In its latest avatar, the Skoda Octavia RS churns out 245ps of power and gets a few additional tweaks both inside and out, which makes it just a bit more special than its predecessor.

The Czech carmaker has introduced new petrol & diesel versions of the new 2021 Octavia RS. The new petrol Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI motor, whereas the diesel version gets a TDI motor of the same capacity (2.0-litre) that generates 197bhp and 400Nm.

For the first time, the Skoda Octavia RS will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Although this new-generation model continues to make 242bhp, torque rating has improved to 400Nm.

The Octavia RS 245 will be introduced as a limited-run model (200 units only) with the bookings set to commence from March 1 at 12 pm, while the deliveries are set to begin from April 2020.

Only 200 units of the new Skoda Octavia RS 245 will make its way to India. Although there is no official confirmation about the launch, we expect Skoda to launch it at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020
