Dacia Duster Gets 3-Star Crash Test Safety Rating from Euro NCAP: Watch Video
The Dacia Duster received 70% and 84% ratings for Adult and Child Occupant protection, respectively. Furthermore, the B-SUV scored 60% in the Vulnerable Road Users (Pedestrian) category and only 57% in the Safety Assist category.
The 2024 versions of the Dacia Duster and Suzuki Swift have received three stars out of a possible five in the most recent crash tests conducted by the renowned automotive safety programme, the Euro NCAP. Although both the Dacia and Suzuki have intelligent speed limiters, autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane-keeping systems, and driver fatigue detection – features that are now legally mandated – Euro NCAP claims that neither of them goes above and beyond these limits in terms of active safety features, and as a result, received lower ratings. As for the Duster, it received 70% and 84% ratings for Adult and Child Occupant protection, respectively. Furthermore, the Dacia B-SUV scored 60% in the Vulnerable Road Users (Pedestrian) category and only 57% in the Safety Assist category. Watch the full crash test video here.
Dacia Duster: Styling Details
When it comes to dimensions, it measures 4,343mm long, 1,829mm wide, and 1,660mm tall. Using the same foundations as the Dacia Sandero and Jogger, the Duster is the same length but slightly shorter to reduce drag through the air. The headlights are lower and appear wider thanks to a Y-shaped lighting signature that runs from the new brand logo across the grille. A more prominent front bumper design features contrasting plastic skid plates infused with colour during production. Additionally, Dacia doubled the Duster's usage of recycled plastics.
Dacia Duster: Powertrain Options
The Duster is based on the brand's CMF-B platform. A 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors, a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 48V starter motor, and a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG engine (available in select markets) are the three engine options available. The SUV has a 1.2-litre mild hybrid drivetrain as standard, with 4x2 and 4x4 options. It also includes auto, snow, mud/sand, off-road, and eco-terrain modes. According to the brand, the Duster 4x4 features 217mm of ground clearance, a 31-degree approach angle up front, and a 36-degree departure angle.

Dacia Duster: Interior Features
Inside the cabin, one can find a new dashboard layout and a revamped centre console. The feature list of the current-generation Dacia Duster is quite extensive. It comprises amenities like a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen, with AC vents positioned below, featuring Y-shaped inserts. On top of it, the SUV comes with a fully digital instrument cluster behind a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel with several controls for various infotainment and driver assistance features. It also gets ventilated front seats, wireless charging, automated climate control, and a reworked gear selector lever.
