Red Bull has unveiled the RB21, the F1 car Max Verstappen will drive in his bid for a fifth straight Formula 1 title. The launch took place just before pre-season testing in Bahrain. Verstappen will be joined by Liam Lawson, replacing Sergio Perez in Red Bull’s 2025 line-up. The RB21 keeps a similar livery to last year but features key updates to improve balance and performance. However, Red Bull has kept many design details hidden in its launch images.
The 2024 season started strong for Red Bull, but McLaren caught up and eventually overtook them. Balance issues plagued the RB20, affecting both Verstappen and Perez. The team only fully understood the problem by September's Italian Grand Prix, but by then, it was too late to stop McLaren and Ferrari from overtaking them. Red Bull lost the constructors’ championship and finished third in the standings, marking a disappointing end to the season.

Ahead of the 2025 season, Verstappen and Lawson will complete a limited 200km filming day in Bahrain. This follows similar shakedowns by Mercedes, Aston Martin, Alpine, and Haas. After that, Red Bull will join the official three-day pre-season test, where the RB21 will undergo its first real test. These sessions will give the team critical data on whether their latest car can reclaim dominance.
Verstappen remains the favourite for the title, but McLaren, Ferrari, and possibly Mercedes will offer a stronger challenge. McLaren's rapid progress last season set a new benchmark, while Ferrari showed signs of a comeback. Red Bull must ensure the RB21 fixes the weaknesses of its predecessor, or they risk falling further behind in the championship battle.

Dropping Perez for Lawson is a bold move, betting on fresh talent to bring consistency. Red Bull hopes this driver change, combined with the RB21’s upgrades, will put them back on top. Pre-season testing will reveal whether their efforts have paid off. As the new Formula 1 season approaches, all eyes will be on Red Bull to see if they can reclaim their dominance.
