Rain Test

While Formula One drivers' remarkable expertise allows them to maintain control in the rain, the mist from the vehicles in front may sometimes obscure their vision. The FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Abu Dhabi in November solidified the concept for the wheel arch testing.

The test will be conducted by Mercedes and McLaren at the Silverstone track on July 13 after it has been artificially flooded. To assess how an F1 vehicle generates spray and if the wheel arches will have the required impact, tests will be filmed and then analysed by the authorities.
