The last Belgian Grand Prix weekend brought attention to the ongoing challenges Formula 1 faces in rainy weather conditions, following a less than satisfactory test of the FIA's experimental "spray guards" at Silverstone a few weeks prior.

For the three-day race at the Hungaroring, the Italian tyre maker Pirelli will only provide 11 pairs of tyres instead of 13, with mandatory usage of certain compounds for qualifying on Saturday.

From 2024 through 2026, Pirelli will be the only tyre supplier for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes. With this new three-year contract in place, the Italian tyre manufacturer will be an integral part of the lightweight and intermediate classes in Grand Prix competition.

For the qualifying round during the Formula 1 weekend, drivers may currently use whatever tyre composition they choose, however most often choose Soft rubber because of the immediate grip it provides.
