Peugeot says it has been able to improve the 9X8 hypercar's performance and durability, by refining the powertrain through the rearward redistribution of weight.

Peugeot's Carlos Sainz looks set to take his second Dakar Rally win while Matthias Walkner, Ignacio Casale and Eduard Nikolaev look set to keep KTM, Yamaha and Kamaz at the top of the bike, quad and truck classes, respectively.

Despite a controversial penalty on account of a crash with a quad rider, Carlos Sainz leads the Dakar Rally after stage ten from Peugeot teammate Stephane Peterhansel, while KTM's Matthias Walkner leads from the improving Joan Barreda of Honda and Eduard Nikolaev gets pressured by Federico Villagra of IVECO.

Carlos Sainz continues to hold the overall lead of the Dakar Rally for Peugeot while Adrien Van Beveren of Yamaha is a mere six seconds ahead of Honda's Kevin Benavides in the bike category. Kamaz's Eduard Nikolaev still leads the truck category.

Stephane Peterhansel of Peugeot, Kevin Benavides of Honda and Eduard Nikolaev of Kamaz hold the lead in the car, bike and truck classes of the Dakar Rally, respectively as the event crosses over into Bolivia for its rest day in La Paz.

Stephane Peterhansel is the new leader in the car category of the 2018 Dakar Rally but the Peugeot driver is under attack from the Toyota Hilux of Nasser Al-Attiyah. Sam Sunderland now leads the bike class for KTM while Eduard Nikolaev is holding sway among the truck class for Kamaz at the end of the third leg of the rally.
