While the firm pledges to absorb a significant portion of the increased costs, a minute portion of this will be passed on to consumers through this hike. Effective from January next year, the quantum of the price increase shall vary depending on the variant and model, with certain models receiving a hike of up to 2 per cent in India. The said price hike will be in the range of Rs. 2.60 lakh&nbsp;for the GLS SUV to Rs. 3.40 lakh&nbsp;for the top-end imported Mercedes-Maybach S 680.&nbsp;

Mercedes-Benz India is on the cusp of opening a new &amp; very important chapter as it is gearing up to debut the German marque's all-electric EQ brand in the country&nbsp;on 14th January. Mercedes has already shown the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/mercedesbenz-teases-eq-a-hatchback-concept/">EQA Concept</a> at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, potentially the next one to make it to production. We've also seen the Vision EQS Concept recently at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Apart from these, electric derivatives of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/is-this-an-electric-mercedes-benz-b-class-105182/">B-Class</a> &amp;&nbsp;E-Class are also under development.

While the brand is set to be announced in India on 14th January, we're yet to see which models are likely to make it here. Since the GLC &amp; V-Class are on sale in India, we're guessing the EQC &amp; EQV could be the first lot to arrive on our shores. There's no confirmed timeline&nbsp;of the brand's commercial debut in India as of now.

Meanwhile, at the Auto Expo 2020, expect the EQC &amp; EQV to be present alongside other non-electric models like the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/2020-mercedes-benz-gle-launch-on-january-28th-more-model-launches-announced-107117/">2020 GLE (launch on January 28th)</a>, GLS, GLE 53 Coupé&nbsp;and the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/mercedes-amg-gt73-4-door-plug-in-hybrid-teased-107067/">AMG GT 4-door Coupé</a>.

Mercedes-Benz to debut all-electric EQ brand in India on 14th January

Mercedes-Benz India is on the cusp of opening a new & very important chapter as it is gearing up to debut the German marque's all-electric EQ brand in the country on 14th January. As of now, Mercedes-Benz only has two EQ models in production - the EQC SUV & the EQV people-carrier

The price hike will be effective from the first week of January 2020.&nbsp;

Mercedes-Benz India has recently announced that it'll&nbsp;revise the ex-showroom prices of its entire model range, starting January 2020. Citing rising input costs as the reason behind the move, the prices are expected to go up by up to 3 per cent, which will vary depending on the model.

Sharing his thoughts on the decision,&nbsp;Mr&nbsp;Martin Schwenk, MD&nbsp;&amp; CEO of Mercedes-Benz India said, 'We have been reviewing the various cost escalations, including the rise in the commodity and input costs that have been exerting pressure on our bottom line. To run a sustainable business and protect our customers’ investment in the brand, there is a need to offset the impact of these rising costs through a moderate price correction. Though we have been absorbing the majority of these, we are left with few options but to pass on some of the additional costs to our customers.'

To ensure customers are not deterred by this move, existing Mercedes-Benz Financial Services like Star Agility+, Wish Box and&nbsp;Star Finance will continue to offer tailor-made buying solutions to discerning customers. The brand's popularity in India, however, is unlikely to be affected by this. At the recent <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/2020-mercedes-benz-glc-launched-at-5275-lakh-106928/">launch event of the 2020 GLC</a>, Martin Schwenk revealed the fact that Mercedes-Benz India has already sold all its 2019 stock of its most popular SUV models - the outgoing GLC, GLE and the GLS. That's one reason why the brand has already begun accepting bookings for the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/new-2020-mercedes-benz-gle-what-to-expect-106748/">new 2020 GLE</a>, due to launch in India before the 2020 Auto Expo. Likewise, bookings for the 2020 GLS are also expected to open in the first quarter of 2020.

Mercedes-Benz India announces price hike from January 2020

Launched with five primary features&nbsp;–&nbsp;Key-to-Key Change, 25-25-25-25, Zero Down Payment, Star Agility+ &amp;&nbsp;Comprehensive Insurance&nbsp;– the Mercedes-Benz 'Wishbox' seems to be the antidote to the ongoing car sales slowdown.

The Indian auto market can certainly use a miracle to climb out the bottomless pit it finds itself in. With no immediate relief in sight from the government, the onus falls upon the manufacturers to get creative and minimise losses. In a bid to rejuvenate sales, Mercedes-Benz has announced its 'Wishbox' initiative, which offers multiple financial solutions tailored to a customer's specific requirements.

As stated above, the Wishbox initiative is a combination of five primary features. The Key-to-Key change (applicable only on the GLE &amp; GLS SUVs) allows customers to own two Mercedes-Benz models in a span of four&nbsp;years. Meaning that a GLE/GLS customer, who purchases his/her car under this scheme, can swap the current model for a new-generation/upgraded model twice (two upgrades at no extra costs), within a span of four years.

The 25-25-25-25 model focuses on easing the burden of hefty down-payments and the EMI payments which follow shortly. Under this scheme, a customer can simply pay 25 per cent of the car's value as the down payment. The remaining 75 per cent can then be paid&nbsp;annually, with each annual EMI paid as an instalment value of 25 per cent.

Like the above-mentioned scheme, the Zero Down Payment plan also reduces the down payment burden. Under this, a customer can simply pay the applicable road tax upfront, take the car home&nbsp;and then pay the balance via specially-planned low-interest EMIs (Fixed tenure of 60-months/5-years).

The Star Agility+ scheme is designed to&nbsp;give additional benefits of maintenance,&nbsp;warranty &amp; assured buyback to customers while&nbsp;reducing EMIs&nbsp;by up to&nbsp;40 per&nbsp;cent. Under certain terms &amp; conditions, the EMIs calculated under this scheme will be significantly lower than a standard loan EMI. Plus, the reduced EMI will also be inclusive of the above-mentioned additional benefits.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

To ease the maintenance burden,&nbsp;Mercedes-Benz is&nbsp;also offering a two-year complimentary insurance scheme on its new vehicles, which will further reduce the upfront payment amount.

On the sidelines of this announcement,&nbsp;Mr&nbsp;Martin Schwenk, MD &amp; CEO of Mercedes-Benz India Limited also announced the brand's progress &amp; future timeline on the BS-VI conversion, 'We are also steadily pressing ahead with our BS-VI transition of the entire portfolio. Till date, we are already at a 60% plus&nbsp;transition level and by September 2019, we will be at 80% level. We are confident of converting&nbsp;our entire portfolio to BS-VI ahead of the mandated timeline of April&nbsp;2020.”

Launched with five primary features – Key-to-Key Change, 25-25-25-25, Zero Down Payment, Star Agility+ & Comprehensive Insurance – the Mercedes-Benz 'Wishbox' seems to be the antidote to the ongoing car sales slowdown.

Mercedes-Benz of India has introduced a new flexible extended warranty programme that will offer warranty on their cars for up to 6-years and unlimited kilometres.
Mercedes-Benz is taking their warranty programme a step further with the introduction of its Advanced Approved Programme that allows customers to avail extended warranty on their cars for up to six years. The new Mercedes-Benz Advanced Approved Programme has been introduced in collaboration with Daimler Financial Services India and Reliance General Insurance. New and existing Mercedes-Benz customers alike can avail the new Advanced Approved extended warranty programme that allows customers to avail warranty on their cars once the standard three-year warranty comes to an end. The Advanced Approved Programme which has to be purchased before the standard warranty of the car expires. It can be availed for just the 4th year, 4th and 5th years as well as for 4th, 5th and 6th years of a Mercedes-Benz’s life. There is also an exit clause available with these programmes where a customer can exit if he wishes to within the standard warranty period.
Advanced Approved warranty covers unlimited mileage within the selected warranty time frame and can be transferred to the second and third owners of a Mercedes-Benz. The programme is available for private vehicles only and does not apply to cars being used for commercial purposes.
Keeping a check on costs, the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Approved Programme will be offered at Rs. 33,000 for owners of the A-Class, Rs. 66,000 for E-Class customers and Rs. 1.98 lakh for S-Class patrons.
