The term ‘Sporty SUV’ has always been an oxymoron – despite the foremost letter of the acronym. But not anymore… The line between what is and what isn’t an SUV is likely to get even more blurred as we charge into the electric age.

autoX Awards 2023: It doesn’t take long to see just how serious a performance machine the Lamborghini Urus Performante really is. Within the first few kilometres, it shatters your preconceived notions and changes your perspective forever.

In the Tuscan hills in a striking convoy of Lamborghinis, we encountered a bunch of school kids crossing the road. As they collected their jaws off the pavement, the driver of each car blipped the throttle to elevate their experience just a little bit more, at which point each child jumped with joy.

The Lamborghini Urus S has been launched in India at Rs 4.18 crore (ex-showroom). It competes with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, the BMW XM, the Audi RSQ8, and several other models in the market.

The updated Urus Performante, which Lamborghini first unveiled in August this year has made its Indian debut today. The new Performante, a mid-life facelift of the standard Urus, has received several cosmetic and mechanical upgrades.

The more hardcore Performante derivative delivers more grunt than the regular version and also gets a couple of cosmetic updates. The upcoming car will compete with models such as Aston Martin DBX 707, Maserati Levante Trofeo, Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, and more.
