Joan Mir has extended his contract with HRC's factory team until the 2026 MotoGP season, despite two challenging years with the Honda RC213V.

Though Joan Mir took over the lead rider spot at Honda this season following Marc Marquez's departure, his results haven't reflected his talent. Stuck on an underperforming Honda RC213V, Mir currently sits in a lowly 18th place in the championship.

Repsol and Honda have been partners for almost 30 years, but since Marc Marquez left for Gresini Ducati, the Spanish oil giant has reduced its engagement.

Joan Mir expressed satisfaction with the upgrades that Honda introduced during the Valencia MotoGP test. Both Mir and his new teammate, Luca Marini, demonstrated impressive pace, particularly as the day unfolded.

Joan Mir, who performed one of the most impressive performances of his Honda career during the MotoGP Bharat GP, attributed his success to the test at Misano, which helped him to get a better understanding of the Honda RC213V.

Joan reflects on the first half of the season, claims to have spoken with a sports psychologist, and promises she will not give up despite the team's current difficulties. But, as he points out, not even the most skilled rider can escape.

While the Repsol Honda Team showed remarkable improvement over the weekend, they were ultimately left empty-handed following the British Grand Prix. Many were nervous that the 20-lap race might be canceled due to the rain that fell in the hours before it started.

Repsol Honda Team rider Joan Mir, who hasn't raced since the Italian GP due to a medical issue, is expected to return to action alongside Marc Marquez at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix this weekend.

While competing in the Italian GP earlier this month, Joan Mir suffered injuries that forced him to miss the next two races, the Mugello GP and the German GP. After replacing Marc Marquez at the Jerez Grand Prix, Lecuona will make his second MotoGP outing of the season.
