With the rising demand for electric vehicles (EVs), automakers are introducing electrified versions of their popular models. Two major contenders in this space are the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and the Hyundai Creta Electric, both set to redefine the compact SUV segment. While both promise eco-friendly performance, they differ in specifications, features, and technology. Each model offers a unique blend of efficiency and innovation, from battery capacity and range to power output, charging times, and advanced safety features. This comparison delves into their technical specifications, highlighting key differences to help potential buyers make an informed choice. Whether prioritising range, performance, or affordability, understanding these distinctions is crucial in selecting the EV that best suits individual driving needs.

Hyundai Creta EV


The price of the Hyundai Creta Electric starts from Rs 17.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 24.38 lakh (ex-showroom). Although the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara's pricing has yet to be officially revealed, it is estimated to carry an ex-showroom starting price tag of Rs 18 lakh.

Both electric SUVs come with distinct lithium-ion battery options, each paired with a specific motor configuration. The e-Vitara is offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs, while the Creta Electric comes with 42kWh and 51.4kWh alternatives. In the e-Vitara, the smaller 49kWh battery is coupled with a 142bhp motor, whereas the larger 61kWh version is powered by a 172bhp motor.

On the other hand, the Creta Electric integrates a 133bhp motor with its 42kWh battery, while the 51.4kWh variant supports a 169bhp motor. Both SUVs utilise permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) for optimised performance. When it comes to range, the e-Vitara claims to exceed 500 km per charge, while the Creta Electric offers a maximum range of 473 km on a full charge.

The e-Vitara and Creta Electric take markedly different design approaches, making them visually distinct. The Hyundai model retains much of the styling from its petrol-powered variant, offering a sleek and contemporary aesthetic. In contrast, the e-Vitara leans towards a more angular and aggressive design. When viewed from the side, the Maruti SUV appears more robust, featuring sculpted haunches, pronounced wheel arches, and thick body cladding, enhancing its rugged appeal.

On the other hand, the electrified Creta opts for a more refined and cohesive look, with smooth, flowing lines. It also sports an extended rear overhang, a more upright stance with a flatter roofline, as well as a less steeply sloped D-pillar, contributing to its distinct silhouette.

Both SUVs are well-equipped with modern features, though the Creta Electric offers some premium enhancements. It includes a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, while the e-Vitara comes with a standard electric sunroof. Inside, the Maruti SUV features a seamless widescreen display, combining a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 10.1-inch digital instrument panel. The Creta Electric, however, incorporates a dual-screen setup with twin 10.25-inch displays. Audio systems also differ, with the e-Vitara utilising a Harman sound system, while the Hyundai is equipped with a high-end eight-speaker Bose setup.

In terms of comfort and convenience, both vehicles boast power-adjustable driver’s seats, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, reclining rear seats, and wireless charging. However, the e-Vitara provides a ten-way adjustable driver’s seat, while the Creta offers an eight-way adjustment. A key distinction is that the Hyundai includes a power-adjustable front passenger seat, a feature not available in the e-Vitara.

On the safety front, both models incorporate Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure prevention, and lane keep assist. Additional safety elements include tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), 360-degree cameras, disc brakes on all four wheels, and electronic parking brakes. However, the e-Vitara has a slight edge by offering seven airbags as standard, compared to the six airbags available in the Creta Electric.
