The biggest change in the upcoming Lamborghini Huracan Successor is it will now house a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 instead of the brand's venerable 5.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) V10 unit.

Rumoured to be called the Lamborghini Temerario upon launch, the third plug-in hybrid supercar produced by the Italian marque, is all set to replace the legendary Huracan, whose manufacturing will end in December this year. This much-awaited car will mark its global debut at Monterey Car Week on August 16. The biggest change in the upcoming model is it will now house a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 instead of the Lamborghini's venerable 5.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) V10 unit. The 3.8-litre unit of the SC63 LMDh prototype, designed by the brand and manufactured by Ligier for competition in the Hypercar, GTP (Grand Touring Prototype), and IMSA SportsCar Championships, serves as the basis for the Temerario's 10,000rpm engine.

Lamborghini Huracan Successor: Design

According to the latest spy photos, the Huracan successor will sport more streamlined headlamps including two projector units, hexagon-shaped LED DRLs on the bumper's lower side, and an extra set of lights on either side of the radiator. Moreover, the Temerario's side profile will likely receive new alloy wheels. A high-mounted stop lamp, a single-tip central exhaust, a redesigned rear bumper with a big diffuser, slim LED taillights, and engine cover vents are all noticeable design components towards the rear.

Lamborghini Huracan Successor: Power Output

Speaking of the engine, Lamborghini has already stated that the car's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 will generate 730Nm of peak torque and 778bhp of power. A hybrid system with three electric motors and an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox will be mated to it. As a result, the vehicle will have a combined power output of more than 876bhp. Although the details regarding the interior are still under wraps, it is expected that the cabin will house an 8.4-inch infotainment panel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9.1-inch front passenger display.

Lamborghini's 'Direzione Cor Tauri' program, which started with the Revuelto last year and continued with the unveiling of the Urus SE in April this year, will achieve another milestone with the launch of the Huracan successor on August 16. This program is leading Lamborghini towards progressive electrification of the range.

Besides announcing the upcoming car's official launch date, Lamborghini revealed its second-quarter and half-year results. The carmaker delivered 5,558 units and made USD 1.75 billion in sales through the first half of the year. The brand reported a record operating profit of USD 496 million.

According to the manufacturer, the Revuelto has a waiting period exceeding two years, and the US continues to be Lamborghini's most important market. The company claims it has enough orders for the Huracan to "cover the entire production run until the expected line closure in December," thus it is likewise fully booked.
