Three days of challenging speed tests in the foothills of the Italian Alps and at Monza’s iconic Temple of Speed circuit culminated on an emotional high! The Frenchmen call time on their careers in style by sweeping a remarkable eighth FIA World Rally Championship title in nine seasons.

Thierry Neuville’s thumping victory in Spain and a second-place finish by Evans has ensured that the WRC title fight, both for the drivers as well as manufacturers, will culminate at the final round – Rally Monza.

Toyota’s Elfyn Evans strengthened his hopes of clinching a maiden WRC title by scooping up a momentous victory in Finland. Despite a heated head-on battle with Hyundai’s Ott Tänak, the Welshman emerged victorious with an appreciable lead of 14.1 seconds.

The Acropolis Rally Greece made its WRC comeback this year after an eight-year-long hiatus and, with rain playing spoilsport, gravel tracks interspersed with muddy sections ensured tricky driving conditions!

After achieving a string of podium finishes throughout the season, Hyundai's Belgian competitor Thierry Neuville finally caught the elusive win he'd been chasing for so long. Not only was this Neuville's first win of the season but it was also his co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe's maiden WRC career win.

Kalle Rovanperä shattered a long-standing record by becoming the youngest driver in the sport's history to win a WRC round. Interestingly, the 20-year-old Finn has snathed the record from none other than fellow countryman Jari-Matti Latvala, who is also his team principal at Toyota Gazoo Racing!

The Safari Rally Kenya returned to the FIA World Rally Championship after a long, 19-year hiatus. Once again, luck seemed to favour Toyota in Kenya as Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia were able to snatch the win from Hyundai's Thierry Neuville.

Toyota finished their latest WRC outing on an absolute high, courtesy of a one-two finish led by Sébastien Ogier that handed the team its maiden Sardinia win! This was also Toyota's third one-two finish of the season in just five rounds.

The 2021 WRC bandwagon moved to Portugal for the fourth round of the championship and the first gravel round of the season. Once again, the final contest was between Toyota's Elfyn Evans and Croatia Rally winner Sébastien Ogier, only this time, the former redeemed himself by winning in Portugal.

For its third round, the 2021 WRC bandwagon hopped over to Croatia for the first-ever Croatia Rally. Sébastien Ogier’s stellar last-gasp victory goes down as the third closest World Rally Championship finish in history.
