Formula E: McLaren Refreshes Stunning Papaya Livery For Season 10
For season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the McLaren Team has unveiled its updated look. The distinctive McLaren Papaya orange paint job is easily identifiable as the iconic racing colour associated with the team.
McLaren has revealed their Season 10 livery, which features the now-iconic papaya-infused colour palette. Staying true to the McLaren brand, the Formula E Team has updated its livery for the upcoming second season of the all-electric single-seater racing series by adding electrifying lines that highlight the sharp angles of the GEN3 car. McLaren has high hopes for Season 10 after a successful debut in season 9. Jake Hughes is expected to expand on his impressive first campaign when he returns in 2024. Sam Bird, a seasoned veteran of Formula E who brings a plethora of knowledge to McLaren, is accompanying him. The McLaren papaya will be shared by Bird and Hughes for the upcoming official preseason test at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo. The bright papaya colour is a signature and a clear message to fans across the world that McLaren Racing is a significant part of their Formula E presence, and it makes an even more dramatic statement for season 10.

Formula E: McLaren Season 10 Driver Line-Up
With Jake Hughes still on board and the arrival of Sam Bird, McLaren is ready to take the next step in bringing their eye-catching design to the forefront of the grid in the Formula E season 10. After an impressive debut in Formula E, Hughes is preparing for his second season in the series. While he did earn two pole positions and multiple top-five finishes in his first season, he could not manage to finish on the podium. Hughes's season 10 prospects are excellent, and he hopes to finally reach the top of the podium this season.
The addition of Bird to the McLaren squad fills the vacuum left by René Rast. Bird hopes to make up for lost time with a solid season with McLaren after his three years with Jaguar weren't as successful as hoped. At his peak, Bird is unquestionably among the Formula E field's quickest rivals.
In preparation for Season 10, McLaren team principal Ian James comments: “We are building on everything we learnt in Season 9. We are continually evolving as a team and this livery represents that. I can’t wait to see the car with this new livery on track at all the iconic locations we will be visiting in Season 10.”

Formula E: McLaren’s Season 9 Performance
McLaren's first Formula E season was a mixed bag, beginning on a high note when Jake Hughes qualified first in the third race and ending on a negative note when René Rast finished third in that same event (Diriyah R2). During their debut season in the competition, the Woking-based team was led by Hughes, who proceeded to impress by capturing another pole at the Monaco E-Prix. Overall, the qualifying performance was quite good, but energy efficiency proved a major obstacle.
McLaren's powerplant provider Nissan also had trouble in the 2023 races, as did most other powertrain suppliers. Rast was unable to keep McLaren in the points for the final 10 races due to this.
Hughes had a great beginning to the season, but they ended up with only three points after seven races. McLaren's troubles in the latter part of the season are highlighted by the fact that the team earned 96.5 per cent of their total points in the first nine races.
