Lewis Hamilton is set to transition from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season, having exercised an escape clause in his contract. The seven-time world champion will make the switch after 12 seasons with Mercedes. While there were rumours about a possible Ferrari debut during the postseason Abu Dhabi test, Hamilton’s contractual obligations with Mercedes, including a scheduled appearance for title sponsor Petronas on December 10, have ruled out this option, according to the reports. Hamilton’s first official drive in a Ferrari F1 car is now likely planned for January at Ferrari's Fiorano test track under Formula 1's testing regulations where the Briton will likely drive the 2022 Ferrari F1-75.

The Ferrari F1-75 competed in the 2022 Formula One World Championship, achieving four race wins at the Bahrain, Australian, British, and Austrian Grands Prix. The car also secured 20 podium finishes across 22 races, contributing to Ferrari's strong season.

F1: Hamilton's Ferrari Move

Lewis Hamilton is set to make a historic shift in his illustrious Formula 1 career, joining Ferrari for the 2025 season. This move marks a significant departure from his long-standing partnership with Mercedes.

Despite years of intense competition with the Scuderia, Hamilton has expressed his desire to experience the iconic Italian team. To facilitate this transition, he activated a clause in his Mercedes contract, allowing him to leave a year earlier than originally planned.

While Antonelli's Formula 2 season has had its ups and downs, Mercedes remains confident in his potential. The team believes that his experience in the feeder series, coupled with his test outings in F1 machinery, positions him as a strong candidate to contribute to the team's future success.
