F1 Hungarian Grand Prix

The cost cap serves primarily as a safety net to ensure that enough teams remain to fill out a grid, but it also marks an overdue attempt to level the playing field. Before the Hungarian Grand Prix, rumours circulated that three teams could have gone over their budget for the 2022 season.

After just 10 races in his first F1 season, Nyck de Vries was fired as a driver for AlphaTauri and replaced by Daniel Ricciardo. Nyck de Vries joined the Red Bull backed team after his outstanding performance for Williams in the 2022 Italian Grand Prix.

Following their victory at the British Grand Prix, which tied the record established by McLaren in 1988, Red Bull will attempt to break the record for most consecutive wins by an F1 constructor as they go for a 12th straight victory.

For the three-day race at the Hungaroring, the Italian tyre maker Pirelli will only provide 11 pairs of tyres instead of 13, with mandatory usage of certain compounds for qualifying on Saturday.
