This past month, I was added to a WhatsApp Group of over 40 G87 M2 owners from around the country – G87 is the model code for this generation of M2. And this isn’t your everyday group for pretty pictures and dirty jokes

Both these “mods” should provide a great deal of peace of mind and ensure that the BMW M2 looks and feels brand new, hopefully, for a long time to come.

Personally, I can think of nothing better than an BMW six-cylinder motor, paired to a manual gearbox, sending power the rear wheels.

The BMW M2 lapped the technical part of the Buddha International Circuit at virtually the same pace as the Ferrari Roma (just two-and-a-half tenths of a second slower to be precise).

I have to admit that there was also a bit of trepidation going into the M2’s inaugural day at the track. What if it wasn’t everything I expected it to be – what if it became a case of ‘never meet your heroes’?

A 3.0 litre, twin-turbocharged inline-six-cylinder S58 engine powers the 2025 M2, and it now churns out 600Nm of torque between 2,650 and 6,130rpm and 473bhp at 6,250rpm.

BMW has always been known for making enthusiast centric cars and the Bavarian carmaker demonstrated this ability of its by launching the M2 in India with a manual gearbox. We sit down with the man responsible for making it happen as he explains his philosophy.

BMW has launched the new M2 at a starting price of Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The new-gen model is available in five exterior paint options, including Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, Toronto Red, and Zandvoort Blue.
