The new agreement with Dorna Sports will bring India back to the MotoGP Calendar from 2025 to 2027. It secures the annual hosting of the MotoGP Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida for three years.

The 2024 MotoGP calendar retains a regionalised approach, grouping races by region. Eleven rounds are scheduled before and eleven after the summer break. BharatGP is scheduled for September 22.

After yet another Turn 1 pile-up at the MotoGP Bharat GP sprint, leading MotoGP riders, including Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro, called for "strong penalties" to be imposed. After similar crashes at the start of the Catalan GP and Austrian GP sprint, this is the third pile-up in four races into Turn 1.

The 2023 MotoGP Bharat GP Sprint event at the Buddh International Circuit was postponed due to bad weather, but Jorge Martin still managed to win. Bagnaia was also consistently second for all 11 laps, with Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda rounding off the top three.

The Buddh International Circuit will be once again the location of the 2024 IndianGP race, as MotoGP is set to return to India on October 6, 2024. This announcement comes as the first-ever Bharat GP is still in progress.

Pole position for the maiden Indian Grand Prix went to VR46 Ducati MotoGP rider Marco Bezzecchi, who finished ahead of Pramac's Jorge Martin by just 0.043 seconds. Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning world champion, completed the front row for the factory Ducati team despite a rough Friday.
