The downsizing phenomenon is affecting all the major bike manufacturers – the majority of whom are slowly widening their portfolio of models to offer machines with smaller engines. The latest motorcycle producer set to join the fray is BMW – following their technical partnership with TVS over two years ago.
In the near future, we could be set to welcome the arrival of the baby version of S1000 R streetfighter, which could lead to a fierce fight with the Benelli BN302, Kawasaki Z300 and KTM 390 Duke. We still don’t have any information on the engine and technical specifications, apart from the fact that it’ll feature a liquid cooled forward facing two-cylinder motor. Our sources also mention a steel backbone twin-tube frame, matched to a seat holding structure – which gives it a ‘suspended’ effect. What definitely will be provided is a lateral shock absorber, along with ABS as standard. In this rendering is our interpretation of what the bike is expected to look like.
