JSW MG Motor delivered 4,571 units in August of this year, representing a 9% year-on-year rise compared to the 4,185 vehicles it sold during the same period last year. The company's New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including the ZS EV and Comet, accounted for around 1,600 units, making up over 35% of total sales. In comparison, 2,971 units of ICE models were sold, accounting for 65% of overall sales, indicating that ICE vehicles continue to account for a significant portion of JSW MG Motor India's sales.
In a recent development, MG globally introduced the updated ZS, called the Astor in India, in a hybrid form. The car features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 101bhp, a 134bhp electric motor, and a 1.83 kWh battery pack, all of which together produce a maximum power output of 192bhp. While there has been no formal announcement, MG may release the hybrid Astor in India to reinforce its position in the segment. Coming back to sales, here's the rundown of MG's sales performance in July.

MG JULY 2024 Sales
MG posted retail sales of 4,572 units in July 2024, which was less than the 5,012 units recorded in the same month, last year. This shows a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 8.7%. The automaker's electric vehicles, including the Comet and the ZS EV, accounted for more than 1,500 units, suggesting strong customer acceptance of new energy vehicles.
Upcoming Car Launches
MG is all set to introduce its third electric model for India called the Windsor EV on September 11, 2024. Although most of the details regarding the vehicle are unknown, the car is expected to have the same specifications as the overseas-sold Donar model, the Wuling Cloud EV. The electric vehicle is available with two battery versions globally: 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh. It also has an electric motor mounted on the front axle, which can generate 134bhp.

For now, there is no confirmation, but it's quite possible that the India-spec model may get the larger battery option, which offers a claimed range of 460 kilometres. Price-wise, The upcoming Windsor EV is likely to cost less than Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
