Gogoro Inc., a Taiwan-based EV maker, has collaborated with Zomato and Kotak Mahindra Prime to drive and accelerate EV adoption in the last-mile transportation sector. According to Gogoro's announcement, the partnership will enable last-mile delivery partners associated with Zomato to adopt Gogoro electric scooters for the last-mile connectivity, with Kotak providing access to more affordable loans. The e-scooters will get a swappable battery system to help deal with the challenges related to parking and home charging. For those unaware, Gogoro offers a variety of low- and high-speed electric scooters with a battery-swapping system in international markets.

According to Zomato, the three-way partnership will facilitate over 3 lakh delivery partners to transition to EV-based deliveries and is aligned with Zomato's commitment to the Climate Group's EV100 initiative, which implies 100 per cent electric vehicle mobility by 2030.
"It is essential that we provide delivery partners with an accessible path to own and leverage the benefits that smart electric two-wheel vehicles and battery swapping offer. Gogoro, Zomato and Kotak are partnering to make this a reality. Gogoro Network battery swapping and vehicles provide a proven track record of safety and security that Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) like Kotak Prime can embrace and support. This partnership will provide a powerful opportunity for delivery partners to lead India’s transition to smart and safe electric transportation", stated Horace Luke, Founder & CEO, Gogoro.
Coming to Kotak Mahindra Prime, it will extend more favourable loans terms to the delivery partners for sustainable transportation, thereby reducing the chances of payment delinquency. When defaulting on a loan, the manufacturer can pause access to battery swapping. Furthermore, Kotak can use Gogoro's Smartscooter for 100 per cent user authentication that makes it difficult to steal.
"We are pleased to partner with Gogoro and Zomato to further the adoption of electric two-wheelers in the country. Sustainable transportation and easy loan access to the consumers is the key", said Vyomesh Kapasi, MD & CEO, Kotak Mahindra Prime Limited.
