Mahindra & Mahindra recently announced that its June sales of 62,429 units were up 15 per cent over the same period last year, according to the company's latest report. The SUV lineup has continued to be the company's bread and butter, with domestic sales of 32,585 vehicles in March, up 22 per cent from the 26,620 units sold in the same month a year earlier. In all, the manufacturer sold 33,986 SUVs last month (including exports). Sales growth has been attained in spite of the short-term setback. A temporary interruption in engine-related components at the supplier end, the business stated, has limited SUV sales volume. In addition, June saw a continuation of semiconductor supply shortages for critical components like Air Bag and ECU.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door Official Launch Timeline Revealed
Despite earlier reports, Mahindra Automotive has said that the 5-door Mahindra Thar would not be unveiled on August 15. While specifics of the event on August 15 are still under wraps, we know that Mahindra will be showcasing near-production versions of its forthcoming electric SUVs. In 2025, Mahindra aims to release an electric version of its XUV700 SUV as the first in a line of electric cars.
With its extra length and two more doors, the Thar 5-door will be a more practical SUV than the three-door version. The SUV's dashboard layout will be the same, but it will include extra features like a sunroof. The off-roader will be based on a chassis comparable to the Scorpio N and include a revised rear suspension.
As a rough estimate, the base price of a Thar 5-door should be about Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the recently released Maruti Suzuki Jimny, as well as the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door.
