In a recent development, Volvo - the Swedish luxury carmaker - has released a report on its half-year sales, selling 33 per cent more units in India in the first half of 2023. The company sold a total of 1,089 examples during the period from January to June 2023, as opposed to 818 examples delivered in the same period last year. The sales were largely driven by the popular XC60, representing a 35 percent increase and contributing to 376 deliveries. Besides, the locally-assembled XC40 Recharge EV accounted for 27 per cent of the total sales and contributed to 289 cars being dispatched. Meanwhile, the company is also gearing up to roll out its second electric vehicle for India - the C40 Recharge. Deliveries for the brand-new C40 Recharge are expected to start in September, following its official launch in August 2023.

The new all-electric Volvo C40 is the XC40 in coupe form and comes equipped with features, such as collision avoidance and mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, post-impact braking, driver warning, run-off mitigation, emergency braking, a blind spot information system, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree parking view, seven airbags, etc.
Upcoming Volvo C40 Recharge: Battery, Range & More
The Volvo C40 Recharge gets a 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is said to offer a 530km driving range on a single charge. Its two electric motors deliver 402bhp of maximum power and 660Nm of peak torque. The electric vehicle is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds and top out at 180km/h. Using a 150 kW DC fast charger, it can be charged to 100 per cent in just 33 minutes.
Upcoming Volvo C40 Recharge: Exterior, Interior
Exterior-wise, the C40 Recharge EV sports LED taillights that are vertically oriented, Volvo's iconic Thor's Hammer LED daytime running lights, and a closed-off panel in place of the regular radiator grille. Dimensionally, the new EV is 4,440mm long, 1,910mm wide, and 1,591mm tall. It rides on Aero 19-inch wheels.
Inside, the car gets vegan leather-free upholstery and recyclable carpets. Furthermore, it has a 9.0-inch Google-powered touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.0-inch fully digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, an air purifier, a wireless charger, cruise control, etc.
Upcoming Volvo C40 Recharge: Pricing
While its price will be officially out in August this year, we expect the upcoming offering from Volvo to cost a little more than the XC40 Recharge, which currently retails at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The BMW i4, the Mini Cooper SE, and others will be its market rivals.
