Mahindra has significantly reduced the waiting period for some of its popular SUVs in India, such as the Thar, XUV700, and Scorpio. The focus on increasing production and the monthly delivery average has contributed to this achievement. Previously, customers had to wait for more than two years for several Mahindra vehicles, including the Scorpio-N, but the model can now be had in just a few months.
Currently, the standard Z2 Scorpio N (diesel) has a four- to five-month waiting period. At the same time, the delivery window for the Z2 petrol vehicles is one month less. The mid-and top-spec petrol and diesel vehicles have a two- to three-month waiting period, while the mid-spec diesel variants have a three to four-month waiting period. For the Scorpio Classic, the waiting period for the regular S variant is now two to three months, while the Scorpio Classic 511's waiting period for now is 4 to 5 months.

Let's take a look at the waiting periods of other models like the XUV700 and the Thar.
Mahindra Thar
The 4X4 versions of the Mahindra Thar have a substantially shorter waiting period than the 4X2 models. In February 2024, the standard waiting time for 4X4 models (diesel, hardtop, soft top, and petrol) was three months, which has now been reduced to six to eight weeks. The maximum waiting period for the two available trims of the diesel 4X2 Thar models is nine to 10 months. The petrol 4X2 versions, on the other hand, have a far shorter waiting period, which is four months. The delivery times for the off-roader's petrol and diesel-powered 4X2 versions have now been reduced by roughly one month. Notably, Mahindra plans to introduce the Thar 5-door this year in India, most likely on Independence Day. Although the company has yet to announce its prices, the SUV is expected to cost between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XUV700
The waiting period for the Mahindra XUV700 is now significantly shorter than before. Its entry-level MX and AX3 variants currently have a month-long waiting time, whereas the top-spec AX7 and AX7 L versions command a waiting period of 1 to 1.5 months. The mid-level AX5 variant has the longest waiting period of a little over 1.5 months. For vehicles with ESP, there is no predetermined waiting period.
