Volkswagen India announced that its high-end sedan, the Virtus sold a record-breaking 2,351 units in October 2024, showing an impressive 32% growth from the previous year. This accomplishment reinforces the model's reputation as the year's best-selling and most desirable premium sedan in India. The company also reported a 9% increase in total sales last month, indicating a great demand for its products. Since its introduction in 2022, the Virtus sedan has sold approximately 60 units daily, surpassing a notable sales milestone of 50,000 units in the domestic market. With sales of more than 17,000 this year itself, the Virtus has cemented its status as India's preferred sedan.

Volkswagen Virtus: Powertrain
There are two engine options for the Volkswagen Virtus. The first is a 1.0-litre TSI petrol unit that generates a maximum power of 113bhp and a peak torque of 178Nm and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. The second is a 1.5-litre TSI Evo mill, which powers the GT-badged Performance Line variant and is paired with a seven-speed DSC automatic transmission for increased performance.
Volkswagen Virtus: Features
The sedan has an array of comfort features, including a sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a push-button start/stop, an 8-inch fully digital driver display, and ventilated front seats. It is equipped with a hill hold assist, six airbags (as standard), ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control (ESC), and rear parking sensors for safety.

Volkswagen Virtus: Price and Rivals
The Virtus is priced between Rs 10.90 lakh and Rs 19.41 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with several models in the segment including the Skoda Slavia, the Hyundai Verna, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the Honda City.
