As part of a limited-time offer, Volkswagen India has reduced the prices of the Taigun by up to Rs 1.10 lakh. As a result, the base price of the SUV now stands at Rs 11 lakh and goes up to Rs 18.90 lakh for the top-of-the-line variant. Both prices are ex-showroom. This makes the model one of the most appealing options in its class. Of the twenty-one variants, only five are included in the price cut: the Comfortline 1.0 MT, GT Plus Chrome 1.5 DSG, GT Plus Chrome 1.5 DSG with new features, 1.5 GT Plus DSG Deep Black Pearl, 1.5 GT Plus DSG Carbon Steel Grey Matte, 1.5 GT Plus DSG Deep Black Pearl with new features, and 1.5 GT Plus DSG Carbon Steel Grey Matte with new features. The Taigun shares the Skoda Kushaq's substantially localised MQB A0 IN platform.
Volkswagen Taigun SUV: Powertrain Options
The available engine options for the Volkswagen Taigun are the same as those found in the Skoda Kushaq: a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol mill. The latter produces 115bhp of maximum power and 175Nm of peak torque, while the former develops 250Nm of maximum torque and 148bhp of peak power. An automatic gearbox with a six-speed torque converter for the 1.0-litre TSI engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch for the 1.5-litre TSI mill is an option in addition to the six-speed manual gearbox that comes standard with both motors.

Volkswagen Taigun SUV: Competition Check
As far as market rivals are concerned, the Taigun faces stiff competition from the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and the Citroen C3 Aircross.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen unveiled the Taigun and Virtus GT Plus Sport concept versions last month. The Virtus GT Plus Sport is anticipated to be released later this year, while the former is set for launch this month. The firm has already opened its order books for the Taigun GT Plus Sport and GT Line variants.
