Volkswagen India has started a women empowerment drive under which they’ll increase the number of female employees to 30% across all their department by 2025.

Further, they’ll empower the existing 120 strong female workforce at their Pune plant through three interlocking frameworks, namely, Sakhi Group’, ‘Kompass Programme’ and ‘Mentor Programme’.

Through ‘Sakhi Group’, women will exchange ideas about their impact on global economy and the Volkswagen business. It will provide an environment to build skills and focus on career achievement.

Kompass Programme, in contrast, includes a six-month cross-functional project to accelerate the development of the high-potential female professionals.

And finally, the ‘Mentor Programme’ is aimed at mentoring and training high potential women leaders through a nine-month programme with formal and informal sharing of best practices and strategies.

Commenting on the initiative, Peter Raussendorf, Volkswagen’s HR head, said:  “Given the significant role women play in society and businesses the world over, we believe there is great merit in offering a platform that can further nurture and develop this set of talent.”

“Through our programme, we aim to drive our existing female talent base forward and also create opportunities for new recruits to develop and grow with the rest of the company in a conducive and inclusive environment,’’ he added.
