As part of its customer experience initiative called Volkswagen Experiences (VWe), Volkswagen has flagged off the inaugural experience drive, The First Chapter: An Exhilarating Expedition to Ladakh. Aiming to conduct a host of events including experience drives, Volkswagen had launched VWe in India.
The first chapter of Volkswagen Experiences commenced on June 9 this year from Chandigarh. It is scheduled to be done in two batches, both of which will be limited to 60 slots only. It will have Volkswagen owners drive from Chandigarh to Leh and back while travelling across the treacherous Spiti Valley. According to Volkswagen, anyone, including prospective customers and enthusiasts, can join the expeditions, provided they pay a fee of Rs 75,000 per person (exclusive of flight tickets). The first expedition concludes on June 14, with the second expedition (Leh to Chandigarh) to be held from June 18 to June 23.

A convoy of over 25 Volkswagen cars (Virtus, Taigun, and Tiguan) will drive through the tough and challenging terrain of the Himalayas to reach its final destination of Leh, Ladakh. All along, drivers will traverse high-altitude mountain passes, ancient monasteries, whistling valleys, rustic hamlets, and lofty Himalayan peaks, all laden with their own set of challenges. Plus, the participants will get to enjoy local cuisines, bond over the outdoor survival training sessions, and experience the Palchan Apple orchards. While Volkswagen will provide cars as well as organise overnight accommodations, meals, and fuel, the cost of car repairs owing to negligent driving will have to be borne by the participants themselves.

With its first experience drive, Volkswagen now ensures more safety by offering six airbags as standard across all variants of the Virtus and the Taigun. Other safety features include a tyre pressure monitoring system, a reverse parking camera, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
