Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced remarkable yearly sales of 2.33 lakh units in 2023, showing a notable 46% rise from the same period a year ago. The overall sales figure is inclusive of 2.21 lakh units sold in the domestic market and 11,984 cars shipped overseas. Numerous models including the Innova Hycross, Fortuner, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Innova Crysta are credited for spearheading the sales success. The automaker saw a notable boost in its total monthly sales in December, hitting 119%, as a result of rising customer demand and a history of consistent growth across the year. Toyota delivered a total of 22,867 cars in December 2023, up from 10,421 units sold the year before. Domestically, it sold 21,372 units in the last month and shipped 1,495 units internationally. It's vital to note that the carmaker presently exports the Urban Cruiser Hyryder to international markets.
A strengthened network, an expanded product offering, and industry-leading after-sales services comprise the company's robust expansion plan, which it credited for its sales success. By constructing a new plant in India, Toyota intends to expand its manufacturing capacity in the nation. With an investment of about Rs 3,300 crore on a third manufacturing plant in Karnataka, the carmaker hopes to boost its yearly production capacity to 3.42 lakh units and add another lakh units to its annual output.

The plant will also serve as a launchpad for the creation of job opportunities in India, particularly for an anticipated 2,000 workers, as well as, demonstrate the brand's commitment to the Made-in-India campaign.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor
Although no official announcement has been made, Toyota's upcoming rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx will likely be called Urban Cruiser Taisor. A 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet and a 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol engine are among the powertrain options that are expected to be featured, similar to the Fronx.
The new Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor will share many features with its Japanese counterpart, including the 9.0-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system, wireless charging, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and more.
