This is the UFI Group's first-ever dedicated aftermarket manufacturing facility & 18th industrial site worldwide.
Italian filtration systems giant UFI Filters has chosen India as the location for its debut aftermarket-only production facility. For those not aware, UFI Group's presence in India dates back to 2008 (UFI Filters India Pvt. Ltd.) and already has two other plants in Bawal (Haryana) & Belgaum (Karnataka). While the former largely supplies fuel & oil filters to clients like Hyundai Motor India, Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Daimler & Ashok Leyland, the latter takes care of UFI's exports to the European market, to brands like the Volkswagen Group, Porsche, Fiat & General Motors.
The latest aftermarket-only facility, registered as SOFIMA Filters India Pvt. Ltd. (UFI's aftermarket brand is called SOFIMA), has been set up in Bahadurgarh, Haryana and is spread across 5,000 sq. m. It will be dedicated to manufacturing filters for the aftermarket sector, serving both local spare parts market and export demands. The product focus will include air filter & cabin filter cartridges for passenger cars of brands like Tata Motors & Maruti Suzuki.
Sharing his thoughts at the inauguration of SOFIMA Filters India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Hridesh Sharma (CEO) of UFI Filters India said, 'This new industrial site opening is part of our strategy to offer high-quality spare parts to the Indian market. The new India operation will make it possible to provide products that are dedicated to the growing demands of the aftermarket sector and will allow the group to grow its business in line with its vision. We have a committed investment of €10 million and will employ around 300 workers at full capacity. Initial production will be to the tune of 6 million filters per year, including cabin filters and air filters for cars and heavy vehicles, as well as dedicated hydraulic filtration spares.'
