TVS Motor Company Records 13% YoY Sales Growth in October; Sells 4.89 Lakh Units

TVS recorded a 14% increase in the two-wheeler market, with 4.78 lakh units sold. The sales of the 2Ws in the domestic market increased by 13% to 3.90 lakh units.

TVS sold 4.89 lakh units overall in the festive month of October 2024, representing a 13% growth from the previous year's 4.35 lakh units. Compared to September of this year, when it sold 4,82,495 units, this was a 1.35% increase. The company saw a 14% increase in the two-wheeler market, with 4.78 lakh units sold. The sales of the 2Ws in the domestic market increased by 13% to 3.90 lakh units. Segment-wise, motorcycles sold 2.30 lakh units in October 2024, compared to 2.02 lakh units in the same period last year. This led to a year-on-year rise of 14%. TVS Sales October 2024

In October, the company's electric vehicle (EV) sales reached 29,308 units, showing a growth of 45% from the previous year's total of 20,153 units. From 87,952 units sold in October 2023 to 95,708 units sold in October 2024, TVS's exports surged by 9%. However, 2W shipments amounted to 87,670 units, representing a 16% YoY increase.

Other Highlights

TVS introduced a new variant of the Raider 125 in India last month to mark the scooter's 10-lakh unit sales milestone. Called the iGo, the scooter retails for Rs 98,389 (ex-showroom). It includes the iGo assist technology, which provides an acceleration boost and an additional 0.55Nm of torque.

The new TVS Raider iGO is powered by the same 124.8cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine connected to a five-speed gearbox. While the power output stays unchanged at 11.2bhp at 7,500rpm, the torque output is now 11.75Nm at 6,000rpm. According to TVS, the new model will offer 10% more fuel efficiency than the other variants.

The Raider iGo sits between the Split Seat model (Rs 97,704) and the Super Squad Edition (Rs 1.01 lakh) in the range. These are ex-showroom prices. Similar to the Split Seat model, the iGo has an LCD dash with TVS SmartXonnect, which enables customers to access notifications, voice assistance, and turn-by-turn navigation, among other linked capabilities.
