TVS Motor Company Domestic Two-Wheeler YoY Sales up by 29% in April 2024, More Than 3 Lakh Units Sold

TVS Motor Company sold 3,83,615 vehicles (2W+3W) in April 2024 compared to 3,06,224 units in the corresponding period of last year, registering a 25 per cent increase.

TVS Motor Company, the Chennai-based two- and three-wheeler manufacturer, has registered a 25 per cent increase in their total sales in April 2024. It sold 3,83,615 vehicles (two-wheelers + three-wheelers) in April 2024 against 3,06,224 units in the corresponding period of last year. Of these total units, the sales of two-wheelers comprised 3,74,592 units, whereas the remaining 9,023 units constituted total three-wheeler sales. The Chennai-based manufacturer's domestic market wholesales in April 2024 comprised 3,01,449 two-wheelers, up 29 per cent year-on-year. On the exports front, TVS shipped 73,143 two-wheelers to foreign markets, denoting an 18 per cent increase over 61,830 units exported in April 2023.

TVS' cumulative sales at 3,83,615 units were up 25 per cent year-on-year (April 2023: 306,224 units). More than 1,88,000 (188,110, to be precise) motorcycles went on sale during April 2024, compared to 1,52,365 samples in April 2023, registering a growth of 24 per cent. Whereas scooters represented a 34 per cent growth to 1,44,126 units in April 2024, TVS reported selling 17,403 electric vehicles (EVs) last month, 'indicating continued robust demand' led by the iQube. In April 2024, EV sales stood at 6,227 units.

Speaking of electric vehicles, TVS retails its two electric offerings in India: the iQube and the X. The former gets 3.4kWh and 4.5kWh battery packs, with claimed real-world ranges of 100km and 145km and top speeds of 78km/h and 82km/h, respectively. Both packs have an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and are paired with a 6bhp hub-mounted motor. Meanwhile, the latter uses a 4.44kWh battery linked to an 15bhp motor, resulting in a claimed range of 140km. The top speed is marked at 105km/h.

Price-wise, the TVS iQube ranges from Rs 1.47 lakh for the base version to Rs 1.56 lakh for the S variant, whereas the TVS X carries a price tag of Rs 2.50 lakh. The prices are ex-showroom.
