The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has achieved a remarkable milestone, crossing 1 lakh unit sales in India since its launch in September 2022. This strong performance underscores the SUV's popularity in a highly competitive market, where its hybrid technology, fuel efficiency, and premium features have struck a chord with Indian consumers. Positioned as a versatile SUV for urban and highway driving, the Hyryder blends Toyota's renowned reliability with cutting-edge innovation. Its success also reflects the shifting preferences towards sustainable and efficient mobility solutions. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Powertrain Options

The Hyryder, introduced as part of the Suzuki-Toyota alliance, shares its platform with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Priced between Rs 11.14 lakh and Rs 17.54 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV caters to diverse customer needs with various powertrain options, including petrol and strong hybrid configurations. Buyers can opt for a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine delivering 102bhp and 137Nm of torque, a CNG variant of the same engine, or a robust hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, generating 91bhp and 122Nm of torque. Transmission choices for the mild-hybrid version include a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: Features 

The dashboard design of the Toyota model closely resembles that of the Baleno and Glanza. The strong hybrid variant boasts a black-and-brown interior theme, while the mild hybrid models feature an all-black cabin. The SUV has advanced features, including ventilated front seats, paddle shifters, ambient lighting, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additional highlights include a heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging. On the safety front, the Hyryder offers an impressive suite of features such as vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and up to six airbags.

Suzuki and Toyota will expand their partnership by jointly developing their first electric vehicle (EV), which is set to debut next year. This fully electric model, to be manufactured at Suzuki's Gujarat plant in India, is designed to offer exceptional range and performance. The EV will feature a 4WD system for improved traction and stability, particularly on challenging terrains. Built on an advanced EV platform co-designed with Daihatsu, the vehicle is expected to provide a roomy interior and a dependable electric driving experience. This collaboration represents a significant milestone for both automakers as they foray into the growing EV segment, signaling their commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
