Toyota Hilux Attracts Discounts of up to Rs 8 Lakh in India
The Toyota Hilux currently has only one rival in the Indian market, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. But, the V-Cross is far cheaper, with prices ranging between Rs 23 lakh and Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Hilux stands between Rs 30.40 lakh and Rs 37.90 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
It has been only a few months now since Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced a price reduction of Rs 3.59 lakh for the 4X4 standard MT variant of the 2023 Toyota Hilux. But the company is already offering a massive discount on the pick-up truck. Some industry reports indicate that the Toyota Hilux can be had with a minimum discount of Rs 6 lakh at most dealerships across the country, while some dealers in the Delhi-NCR region are offering up to a whopping Rs 8 lakh off on the truck, depending on the inventory. In March 2022, Toyota launched the Hilux in India at a starting price of Rs. 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Standard variant with a manual transmission. A year later, the manufacturer slashed the prices and reintroduced the Hilux with a new starting price of Rs 30.40 lakh. The price for the Hilux Standard 4WD MT was reduced to Rs 3.59 lakh, whereas the prices for High MT and AT variants were increased by Rs 1.35 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh, respectively. Following this, the Toyota Hilux's prices now range between Rs 30.40 lakh and Rs 37.90 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Toyota Hilux Pick-up Truck: Powertrain
Under the hood, the Hilux receives only a diesel engine, and it is the same 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged motor found in the Fortuner. This engine cranks out 201bhp and 420Nm of torque (manual transmission) or 550Nm (automatic). On offer are a six-speed manual as well as a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In addition to a 4x4 drive system as standard equipment, the lifestyle utility vehicle also gets an electronic differential lock, downhill assist control (DAC), and active traction control (ATC).

On the feature front, there is an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, an instrument cluster, leather upholstery, a climate control panel, a 6-speaker setup, cruise control, steering mounted controls, auto-dimming IRVM, a cooled glove box, front and rear parking sensors, driving modes, etc. As far as safety goes, the Hilux has 7 airbags, along with a stability management system, hill assist, and an ISOFIX mounting system.
Toyota Hilux Pick-up Truck: Underpinnings, Dimensions
The Hilux is offered across three variants - Standard MT, High MT, and High AT. It is available in India with a double-cab body style. The Toyota Hilux shares its underpinnings with the Fortuner. Both use Toyota's IMV ladder-frame chassis. Dimensionally, it measures 5,325mm in length, 1,855mm in width, and 1,815mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,085mm.
