Toyota Fortuner: Technical Details
When it comes to mechanical specifications, the Fortuner is available with two different engine options: a 2.7-litre petrol unit and a 2.8-litre diesel mill. As for the power output figures, the diesel engine can produce up to 500Nm of maximum torque and 201bhp of peak power, while the petrol engine is designed to develop 164bhp and 245Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the diesel models also have an optional 4x4 system.
Speaking of the transmission options, the petrol engine is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox. Furthermore, the diesel unit comes with two transmission options: a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 6-speed manual. The four-wheel-drive system is only available on the diesel model, while the 4X2 option can only be had with the petrol model. The variant also sports an auto limited-slip differential and a lockable differential.

On the pricing front, the Toyota Fortuner starts at Rs 33.43 lakh and goes up to Rs 51.44 lakh. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. Regarding rivals in the Indian market, the SUV competes against the Jeep Meridian, the Skoda Kodiaq, and the MG Gloster.
