Toyota Fortuner has always been a top-selling SUV for the Japanese carmaker, commanding a strong market presence in the Indian market. Over, the years, its strong sales figures, off-road prowess, and rugged styling have been significant factors in attracting a large number of car buyers. Consequently, the popularity of the SUV has undoubtedly led to considerably long waiting periods for the model in the past. As of November, the Fortuner's waiting period stands at 12 weeks (3 months) from the day of booking. Toyota Fortuner: Powertrain Options
In terms of powertrain and gearbox choices, the Fortuner comes with two engine options. There is a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel unit that belts out 201bhp of maximum power and 500Nm of peak torque in automatic versions and 420Nm in manual versions. The second engine option is a 2.7-litre NA petrol mill with 245Nm of maximum torque and 164bhp of peak power. It can be mated to either a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission. There are two gearbox options available for the diesel engine: a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 6-speed manual. The four-wheel-drive system is exclusive to the diesel version, while the 4X2 option is only available for the petrol variant. Additionally, the model has an auto limited-slip differential and lockable differential.

Design-wise, the Fortuner has a wide front grille with less chrome, 18-inch alloy wheels, a muscular bumper, a new fog lamp housing, a faux skid plate on the chin, slimmer headlamps with LED signature for the DRL, and LED tail lights. On the other hand, the Toyota Fortuner Legender has a black roof, a sequential LED turn signal, a vertical split grille with glossy black surrounds, complete LED dual projector headlamps with distinct DRL signatures, and unique alloy wheel designs.

On the feature front, the Fortuner comprises amenities such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, an 8-way power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, connected car tech, powered tailgate, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, LED headlamps with DRLs, hill ascent and descent control, satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, seven airbags, keyless entry and go, ABS with EBD, traction control, stability control, cruise control, paddle shifters, a rear-view camera, dual-zone climate control, rear air-con, an 11-speaker JBL sound system, front clearance sonar, and telescopic steering adjustment.
Not only that, but the Legender also has a wireless phone charging pad, a boot opening mechanism that activates with a kick, and three driving modes: Sport, Normal, and Eco.

Toyota Fortuner: Price Range and Competitors
The current price range of the Toyota Fortuner ranges between Rs 33.43 lakh and Rs 51.44 lakh, while the Fortuner Legender is priced between Rs 43.66 lakh and Rs 47.64 lakh. All mentioned figures are ex-showroom. When it comes to market competitors, both SUVs go head-to-head with the Jeep Meridian, the Skoda Kodiaq, and the MG Gloster in India.
