Thar, Scorpio-N and More Propel Mahindra SUV Sales Growth to 32% YoY, Over 39,000 Units Sold in November
Mahindra says that its SUVs, such as the Thar, XUV300, Scorpio-N, and XUV700, captured strong demand during the festival season; however, it did blame supply chain challenges for hindering sales.
Mahindra & Mahindra has announced its home market utility vehicle (SUV) sales numbers for November 2023. At 39,981 units, last month's sales were up by 32 per cent on a year-over-year basis. In comparison, the Indian manufacturer sold 30,238 units in November 2022. However, a look at its October 2023 sales figures tells us that it delivered 43,708 SUVs in the home market.
Meanwhile, the overall auto sales (including exports) of the company have crossed the 70,000-unit mark (70,576, to be precise) as it witnessed a "healthy festive season", representing a 21 per cent YoY (year-on-year) increase. In the commercial vehicle segment, the brand reported 22,211 units sold during November 2023, while the export figures stood at 1,816 units compared to 3,122 units sold in the same period last year. Of the 22,211 units, 17,284 units of LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles) in the 2 to 3.5 tons category were dispatched. Meanwhile, the LCVs below 2 tons recorded a rise of 54 per cent, and the LCVs above 3.5 tons and MHCVs (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles) saw a 12 per cent increase. As far as the three-wheeler market (inclusive of EVs) is concerned, Mahindra sold 6,568 units, denoting a 26 per cent increase.

Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, "We continue our growth trend, backed by strong demand for our SUV portfolio. In November, we sold a total of 39,981 units, a growth of 32%. While we saw a healthy festive season, we faced supply challenges on select parts during the month. We are keeping a close watch, and taking appropriate steps to mitigate the challenges".
Mahindra Domestic Tractor Sales Nov. 2023
Mahindra saw a 6 per cent increase in domestic tractor sales to 31,069 units in November 2023, the company reported. The brand sold 29,180 units in the same month last year. The company's total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) were at 32,074 units last month, as against 30,528 units in November last year. Exports for the month stood at 1,005 units.
Meanwhile, cumulative passenger vehicle sales for the financial year 2023-24 at 2,98,603 units were up 29 per cent year to date. In comparison, one of India's leading manufacturers sold 2,31,413 units during the same period last financial year 2022-23.
Mahindra XUV400 Facelift to be Launched Soon
In other news, Mahindra is gearing up to launch the updated XUV400 sub-compact EV in the domestic market soon. Ahead of that, a test mule was spotted testing for the first time, revealing styling details on the SUV that looks close to production-ready.

While we do not expect any changes to the battery pack options (34.5kWh and 39.4kWh) and the 150bhp electric motor it already offers, Mahindra could tweak the same powertrain to deliver better range. For reference, with a larger 39.4kWh battery, the current version yields a range of 456km (MIDC), while a smaller 34.5kWh battery offers a 375-kilometre range (MIDC).
