The all-new Tata Safari, the company's flagship SUV and one of the most popular offerings in the Indian carmaker's portfolio was launched in February this year along with the 2023 Harrier. One of the major highlights of the updated Safari is the 2.0-litre diesel engine which now complies with the BS6 phase-2 RDE norms. As for the current pricing details, the cost of the SUV begins at Rs 15.85 lakh and reaches up to Rs 25.22 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. Further, the SUV is available in seven variations, three editions, as well as six colour options. In terms of features, it comes equipped with an ADAS safety package, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Due to substantially high demand, the Tata Safari presently commands a six to eight-week waiting period from the date of booking. However, it is important to note that this pertains to bookings in the Mumbai region and may vary as per the dealership, colour, edition, and variant, among other variables.

2023 Tata Safari: Safety and Other Features
On the safety front, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, high beam assist, lane departure warning, lane change alert, blind spot detection, door open alert, traffic sign recognition, rear cross-traffic alert, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, six airbags, and rear collision warning are among the ten advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features available on the new Safari.
Apart from these, the SUV boasts an extensive list of premium features such as a 360-degree surround view system, a new seven-inch digital TFT instrument cluster, a wireless charger, a new 10.24-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electric driver seat with memory function, ventilated front and second-row seats, and a panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, as per the variant selected.
2023 Tata Safari: Engine and Gearbox
Speaking of powertrain options offered with the SUV, the new Safari's 2.0-litre Kryotec 2.0-litre BS6 Phase-2 compliant turbocharged diesel engine churns out 350Nm of peak torque between 1,750rpm and 2,500rpm and 168bhp of maximum power at 3,750rpm. This engine is compatible with both a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission. The model has three terrain response settings: Normal, Rough, and Wet.

When it comes to market competition, the Tata Safari continues to rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, the Mahindra XUV700, as well as the MG Hector Plus.

Tata Safari, Harrier Price Hike
Tata Motors has publicly announced a price hike for its complete passenger portfolio in the Indian market, which includes both gasoline and electric vehicles. The Harrier and the Safari SUVs' costs have gone up by Rs 20,000. The price hike affects both the manual and automatic models. However, customers who made reservations before July 17 will be exempt from the price increase. The Harrier now costs between Rs 15.20 lakh and Rs 24.27 lakh, while the Safari costs between Rs 15.85 lakh and Rs 25.22 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
Going further into the pricing details of the Safari SUV, the cost of the XE MT variant as of July 17, 2023, is Rs 15.85 lakh, an increase of 1.28 per cent over the previous price of Rs 15.65 lakh. Furthermore, the price of the high-spec XZA+ O Red AT has increased from Rs 24.91 lakh to Rs 25.11 lakh. Prices are all ex-showroom.
